Window Tint Scratches?

So yesterday i got my 328xi coupe tinted. It really looks great except for one thing. On the back window it looks like there are TONS of scracthes. I dont think they are on the actual glass, even though it looks that way. I think they are in the tint. For the most part all of the scratches go in the same direction. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution? Or should i just bring it back to them. THANKS!

Take it back immediately, at this point you should only see bubbles and no scratches.

Same thing happened to me when I tinted my car. Apparently there was previous tint that was very light and the idiot tinted over it and the scratches became MUCH more visible.

+1, should not see scratches, bubbles go away, scratches don't!

I have been having the problem ever since I tinted my car and have no found a solution to make the scratches go away. I know its not the tint but something inside the window trim is causing the scratches... Maybe somebody with experience can solve our issue, and mine is with both my front's not rears.

Hey man, that sounds bad. You want to make sure that they are not streaks instead. When I got my tints, there were a lot of noticeable streaks on the windows because the tint was fresh. I asked the shop about it and they said that they will go away when the tint settles in 3-4 days. Sure enough it did.

this is a common problem on e90/e92

there's tons of threads regarding this matter and its caused by the factory window seal not having felt on both sides of the seal leading to it scratching the tint

I thought it would be a hit or miss if I just installed the tint with out the moleskin and sure enough when I rolled down my windows they got scratched up i haven't gone to re tint them until i install the moleskin tint protector which you can get here

http://www.tintprotector.com/

in other words go buy the moleskin, install the moleskin and re-tint the windows that should be it

If you look at his description, its not the side windows. He states that its his back window that is filled with scratches

They used cheap tint! The scratches on your rear window is from the use of a squeegee when they applied the tint, to squeegee out the excess fluid sprayed onto the tint to adhere to the glass. They must of over did it with too much pressure!

This is a common problem with our cars. However, if you did NOT roll down the window prior to seeing the scratches then the installer is definitely at fault.

I have this problem on the rear side windows and a little on the rear window also. Apparently some tint installers use scotch bright pads to clean the windows before tint install. It seems that BMW glass is softer than other or has some kind of coating that is damaged. Might want to find out and make sure if they replace any tint they don't do it again.

May be i wasnt clear. Its on the rear windshield. Not on the door glass. So it has nothing to do with rolling the windows down or up. Infact the installer put tape over the button so i dont roll them down. Its been about 36 hours now and i still have not rolled down the windows. But anyway i think that there was just too much pressure applied when putting the tint on. I will go back and see what they say!

Thanks for all the responses!

Tint Protectors kit worked for me. Three years and no scratches.
