DCT feels jerky on 1st

Sorry if this has been discussed before and i did do some searching but nothing that really answers the question. I have a 335is still under the the break in period. Not saying this happens all the time but there have been instances while accelerating in 1st gear, the car just starts to jerk as if the throttle is going back and forth? Is this just an everyday DCT issue or is there something not right with my car Any input would be appreciated!

is it happening when the car is still warming up? if it happens after you have been driving for a while I would say its strange, if it happens in the first 5 minutes of driving, normal. also, DCT takes a little getting used to. youll finesse it over time

can u give a bit more description on when it happens?

does it happen when u start off from a complete stop?
does it happen when ur slowing down for a light then light changes green and u accelerate?

im guessing its the latter where the car is slowly rolling to a complete stop in 2nd gear then u accelerate which makes the car jump down to first and jerk

Thinking about it i guess its true that i feel that sense of jerking after starting her up when im somewhere and im pulling out onto the street or leaving the house... but is this something that im going to have to live with with the DCT tranny? Not really trying to complain but just wondering if its just mine or everyone else's car does the same

Yep, you'll have to live with it. guess what? same thing happened with my 6MT 2011 M3.

So it has nothing to do with turbos or DCT. Everything just needs to be warmed up to work smoothly

you need to account for a small lag in the auto transmission- like micro small-which goes almost completely away in sport mode.

If you put in lets say 1/4 inch of throttle and wait for a split second...the car will roll after you wait, but not at first. If you go like an inch of throttle and wait-the car will lurch forward, then your foot will probably be like "whoa" and back off...which will cause any boost to drop, the manifold pressure to go negative, and your car will basically become an engine brake....

is this the jerkiness you're refering to?

have you done any DCT software recalls? I had to do it on my 135 DCT when I took it to the dealer to do the post 1200 mile oil change.

Not sure about any DCT recalls... I would think any sort of recall would have been taken care of already since i just recently bought the car in the beginning of August and the car isn't even past the 1200 mile break-in period

That's what I'm saying. I did my recall( and by that I mean DCT software) after car had 1200 miles.

Not exactly, the situation is when im easing down into the pedal while in first gear and the car just goes into a jerking unstable-like throttle response.

Alright i guess thats something i will look into, but did you feel anything considerably different with the ride after the DCT software update?

The DCT has lag in 1st gear. What you're describing sounds worse than "normal" lag. The DCT software update did decrease the lag a bit. Using sport mode also seems to help. My $.02.

Agree with PKL. My 335i 6MT also has some 'jerkiness' immediately after startup from 1-3k RPM in 1st and 2nd. It goes away almost immediately (1-2 min. after cold start). The engine RPMs do not spike or anything of the sort, but it almost feels like the turbos are kicking in very unevenly - but like I said, it goes away almost immediately, and it seems the consensus is this sort of thing is common.
