Drag Racing Results: 335i vs. Corvette GS vs. Porsche Cayenne Turbo S
http://www.youtube.com/embed/ia7NPXhEahI
My car is on the left: #21 and my friend is on the right: #23 So here are the results from the dragstrip last night. Over 90 degrees F, even at 10:30PM which didn't help Overall I was really happy with the performance of my car. I won the bet with my friends for most races won that evening, but it's scary how evenly matched my car is with my friends 2011 GS as you can see from the video and slips. My friend with the Porsche Turbo S had a fastest time of 13.5 at 106 I believe. The heat was a killer. NO wheelhop whatsoever with the 295/30/19! I am however going to go back to 275/30/19 for everyday driving as the tires rub, albeit rarely (only bumps at high speed). On some runs I was getting a few mis-shifts/bad noise when rowing through the gears fast (like a metallic zipper sound). I really just don't like the shifter on our cars, it really hesitates going into gear quickly. Perhaps something is up with my clutch/tranny. In any case I look forward to getting some cool air. I hopefully will have a low 12 car sometime soon Last edited by 135i; 08-18-2011 at 06:19 PM.. |

your 60 ft time hurt ya. for every .1 u can pick up there usually = .2 overall. you have a 12 second car you just have to get the launch worked out. try messing with the tire pressure. it makes a difference

I'm not sure what those LS3 vettes usually run, but I'm guessing mid-low 12s with a good driver? |

112-113mph traps you can get well into the 12's w a hard launch. ls3 vette is good for 115-118mph from what i've seen w a good drive and conditions, I believe they've broken into the 11's stock.

Nice! With colder weather I totally think a 115+ trap is possible. It was literally 95 degrees. The amazing thing was how consistent my runs were, even while doing 3 runs essentially back to back.

the 335 ran a 12.3 at 116mph this exact day, we were on the way to MIR for a private track rental. He's on race gas. the vette has an intake, ported throttle body. 335 gets walked.

sure did, vette had me weighing 200lbs as a passenger too. you can clearly see the 335 got the jump too.
ls3/ls7/lsanything cars have long legs for sure. The TQ just doesnt stop.

I've run there over the years with various cars and have found it to be true and conservative. There are plenty of optimistic tracks, but SAR has been consistent (I haven't run the 335i there). Alamo dragway was very optimistic, giving a consistent 2mph.
People have to understand that even at 10:00 it can still be 96F! You'll no doubt run much faster when it's not 105deg outside. Did did your IATs look like? Have you dyno'd locally? -TG |
