New BMW owner
hi I'm new here, I just bought a 2008 335xi coupe alpine white with 14K miles. Paid $32k before tax and title. Been browsing the forum the last few, just joined. Previously i owned a 2005 350z, but loving the Bimmer.

Buy a JB4 plug-n-play +50hp +50tq Step 2. Buy a DCI (dual cone intake) +10 +10 Step 3. Kick lots ass. Shock Vette, Infiniti, Nissan, Porsche, Mercedes and M3 owners. Step 4. Buy some cool wheels (VMR V710s). Make it look a little cooler and less like a sleeper. Step 5. Get addicted to this forum and think of all the stuff you are going to buy next. Step 6. Decide that you HAVE to have LCI and the new iDrive. Do what ever it takes to find a hard to find 2009 or 2010. Pay too much. Don't give a S*** b/c the new iDrive is awesome. Step 7. Have fun and give your opinion to guys who just swapped their sport cars (350z) for a legit sports sedan. Enjoy!

Hahaha I'm loving this car right now. The way it is! Once I start modding I always get bite by the damn bug. All the mod you listed above won't void warranty ? The wheels are coming in the near future. My 350z was heavily modded. I have lots or research to do on this forum before asking dumb questions. I know how it is ! Mine is a COUPE btw lol

Congrats. Huge missed step here. Buy coilovers! Drop it and watch the handling and looks increase dramatically. Best mod!!

best mod is a warranty. is your car Certified Pre Owned? otherwise your warranty will be up soon and that is bad news.
and who buys a NEW CAR just to get the newest iDrive? haha was that a joke? that seems a little extreme. my "iDrive" is a galaxy tab and it does more than your iDrive does and was $200 |

What is a galaxy tab? And how does it replace the iDrive? Sounds cool.
I agree on the coil over mod. I missed that one. I would say sport springs would get you by. A complete set of coil overs can get kind of pricey for the casual enthusiast. The DCI does not void warranty. In most cases the JB4 does not void warranty either. You can completely disable it in under 4 seconds from your steering wheel controls. My last 335 went in the dealer 1/2 dozen times and the dealer said nothing about my JB3. They even replaced both turbos under CPO warranty while my JB3 was still on the ECU. It's a wildly debated concept on this forum. It comes down to what type of personality you have - are rules made to be followed? or are rules made to be leveraged in your favor? Oh... you should also have a good relationship with your BMW service advisor. Have fun!

My car is certified. I also bought the service package and extended warranty for it. I'm itching to mod it but a little worry with all the warranty plan. Rims is next I think.

Order of mod list:
1. Install a set of BOVs, loudest you can find. 2. Carbon fiber hood, will save you tons of weight 3. Cut a few coils out of the springs - free drop! 4. 20" rims, the brighter the better 5. limo tint, the darker the better 6. Enjoy. |

Thanks. Been modding car since my first one so I don't see any changes anytime soon. Starting with a carbon fiber front lip, trying to find a rear diffuser but no luck bc it not a m tech rear. And still searching for rims. Today is the third day I have the car lol.

Haha I knew he was joking but seriously. I talked to a friend and he a set of 20" HRE for his M5. Would that fit on my 335xi? 20x9.5 front 20x10.5 rear. He is running 255 front and 285 rear. So tires new tires is a must. Wonder if i clear without rubbing. Suggestion please ?

Might be more schnitzel than rice or spaetzel...yah...that's it!
---------- M5 wheels won't fit your ride, unless you like them sticking out beyond the fender! I roll on 18s myself...M3 OEM 219M wheels! ---------- Congrats on your ride and welcome to the forum!

Thank for the info. I'm gonna test fit it on anyway bc be is selling it to me for $2000. He paid $5k for them brand new. Price is too good to pass up. But we'll see. Most likely I'm looking into 19. I was gonna kept the Volks TE37 on my 350z but I knew they wouldn't fit so I sold them with the car.

How can JB4 be plug and play? I just ordered the 2011 e92 335xi and I want the JB, but I don't want to mess with the whole "dealer" $hit. So.. I decided against it. Is it really plug and play and I can remove before services? Don't you have to TUNE it too?
