Wow, wonder how they found out which dealership it came from?

Man I remember years ago that a mechanic at a Ford dealership got busted street racing a customer's SVT Cobra.

Probably some locals knew of the area. Just my guess.

Here's the thread on 1addicts if anyone didn't pick it out of the article.

What can the customer do about it? Employee gets fired, but what about any untold damages. I mean lots of things can go wrong. Makes me sick really

$40,000 markup on the 1M? Deserves the fool who buys it.

Oh man that definitely doesn't make me feel good about BMW technicians. I just bought my 2008 E92 335xi 6mt about 2 weeks ago and on the day I picked it up, the right side DRL blew out. Called P*****ton BMW and they were willing to give me a loaner car so I was pretty psyched about my new BMW ownership benefits. Picked her up at the end of the day and when I went to my trunk I noticed that even though I had my Bav auto spare tire on top of the rubber trunk mat that the mat had shifted back at least 3-4 inches as well as my gym bag had tumbled back. Also my oil level was down about a quarter level from when I dropped her off(I happened to be checking the levels everyday as I want to see if this car consumes oil). I noticed that they put 'performing vehicle test (with vehicle diagnosis system)' as one of the items on the invoice but didn't really think twice about it because I assumed BMW techs would be more professional.

With that said, I have no solid evidence at all that the dealership did anything mischievous with my car but now I can stop imagining her experiencing the same thing that the 1M did.

I think I'm going to skip the extended warranty and go find a trustworthy local indy or perhaps find a good spot to mount a hidden camera with gps location tracking.

My car is actually at the BMW dealership right now and this thread and threads like this made me go down and check out of sheer boredom. Let's just say there is likely a new thread to be created by myself tomorrow morning. Sigh.

As a precaution to every member on this board, although this may sound insane or over the top, but I encourage you to take a picture of your milage, check the vehicle out with the SA, and remind them that the car shouldn't be driven more than what you think is necessary. For example, if you're getting an interior wire harness done such as myself, there is no need for a test dive. For things related to drivability, I can understand a test drive but I'm still skeptical in light of all these horror stories.

I've been taking pics of my mileage ever since I drove behind my dealership and saw 335i s zipping through the lots coming and inch of crashing to one another. It's like a mini rally, seriously.
Took my car to perform the hpfp recall and upon pick-up there was an excess of ***25*** miles......
Called my SA, but what can you really do? Sue?
Didn't push it because I didn't want to damage the relationship

Damn! I'm scheduled this friday to turn in my 335i to get the headlights recalibrated. I'm definitely going to take a picture of my odometer and remind them that it shouldn't be driven.

Your 335i is not rare like this 1M was at the time. They fix 335i every day, why would they need to go haul ass in a residential neighborhood in a car they have seen a thousand times? That was probably the first 1M in that dealership, judging by the huge mark up they put on it.

i know that dealer and its like few miles from me... i remember seeing that 40k mark up and thought they are idiots for trying to do that. now that the video is out, i am sure NO ONE will pay that much for that 1M. in fact, i actually went into that very 1M and sat inside to see how gears felt. no way in heavens would i pay any markup for that 1M at this point. people probably will ask for a discount on MSRP now. lol idiots....

this is in an opel service. guy came in for AC check on his new Corsa OPC, but the mechanic as you can see here on the video gave it a nice little test drive. anyway the camera recorded all and the guy went to the manager for complaint. he asked for a new car, they refused and thats how it ended up on youtube and on the local news as well.

just before he drives out of the garage he checks AC and joyride begins..

My custom ordered 2011 335d had 17 miles on it when it showed up at my brother's doorstep while I was overseas :-/ Not a good sign.
