335iS or M3?

Hi everyone - I am new to the forum and a current 335is owner. I purchaed the car about 6 months ago, with the premium and winter packages and I have no complaints at all about the car. However, I dropped by my dealer recently for service and was talking to my salesman about the M3. Long story short, I was offered a great deal on an e92 M3 that they have in stock. I'm now seriously contemplating this and figured I'd post something here to gauge all of your thoughts.

If it's a good deal and you can swing it, why not? I'd do it.

this has been discussed so many times.. it all boils down to what you want out of the car. if you can afford the m3 then get the m cuz the is will never handle as well as the m3

Go drive the M3. If you like it, and it makes financial sense to you, buy it. If not, keep your 335iS. You will end up with one hell of a car either way you go.

I agree with the above. It really comes down to the numbers and if it works for you. Just consider all the factors: insurance, car payment, cost of fuel. If it makes sense, do it.

I drove a 335i, 335is and M3 yesterday. I wanted the M3 but I just could justify paying the monthly they wanted. My priorities are elsewhere at the moment. Therefore, I got the 335i with M sport etc. I also liked the 335is but did not want to spend the money compared to the 335i. So that is what I did for now. I will wait some time and then re-evaluate. Good luck with your decision.

I recently sold my M3 for a 335. I posted about it on M3post and I got f'ing RAPED.

I used to live in CT and I could open up the car there every single day, everywhere I drove. I recently moved to Los Angeles, and Monday-Friday I now drive about 9 miles round trip, all of it between 30-45mph. I felt the M3 was completely wasted here on the streets of Los Angeles, not to mention it has terrible gas mileage, especially in city driving.

So that's my story. Where do you live and what kind of driving do you do?

I would KEEP the 335is

bmw drivers are one of the most arrogant ones on the road. also they seem to think everyone else is even more arrogant which is damn ironic.

Those who would "vote" M3 probably have never owned maybe, maybe never even driven or sat in one. I owned a 99 M3, a 2005 M3, and a 2011 M3. They are awesome cars, but they are not THAT much better than a nicely equipped 335.

ESPECIALLY for street driving. For the track, another story.

I have driven e46 and e92 m3 while a few 335i's..so I understand what you mean but this is the LAST v8 NA motor. Makes it pretty special to me.

no offense but that really makes me wonder if you did own M-cars

I had 02 M3 and it offered better driving experience then my 07 335i, i never drove e92 M3....

nicely loaded 335 has nothing that M3 has, chassis, suspension, transmission, engine, differential...etc. all different, and it look much better too.
