What is this?

I have this along the edges under my hood and on some other parts. It's this extremely stubborn gunk that is nearly impossible to remove. Could it be some sort of adhesive from the hood? Who knows man. Anyone have this?

hmm, haven't seen that on my car.. looks like it could be some sort of left over assembly grease or something similar.

That's cosmoline, a tough spray wax like substance that protects the car from the salt air during shipping. It is chemically removed at the BMW prep center. Seems like they did a lousy job at detailing your car. Have the dealer detail the car for you. It should have been caught and taken care of during dealer prep.

Maybe I can ask the dealership to remove this. I've seen this before on other cars. It's disgusting though.

After reading the title, my first thoughts were thinking that this was another one of those "steering wheel" "start button" gimmick threads

Haha I thought that too. At first I expected the OP to be referring to those water droplets or a bolt or something. Man, this forum is getting out of hand.

+1 I have that under my hood as well. Took me a LONG time and LOTS of muscle power to remove most of it yet I'm sure there are spots I haven't gotten to.
