Found a 330i need some help!
Well I decided to get an 06 330i instead of the 335 due to not wanting to deal with the known issues <--- don't grill me I know I don't have one. It's being sold by an Acura dealer they said it has been through a 77 point inspection. I've heard that most people recommend taking it to a BMW dealer to check it out, I'm not sure if they would let me, I don't really want to pay for it either. So I guess I just wanted you guys to take the time and check it out.
http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/dd...aler_id=100260 Anything special to look for? I'm pretty excited, it's time to get rid of my truck. Has a few more miles than I would like but it is a manual It appears to have everything except cold weather pac. Thanks, |

Actually its not bad... But it looks like it only has sports package and a spoiler (bonus) lol. Still, sports package is a must have though premium would be nice to have too. Anyway I would get it for $19K. Maybe see if you can knock a grand off?

You can get newer but probably won't be a 330

which was the highest output NA 3 liter in a normal 3 series but not M Inspect for sludge build up due to 18k oil changes Inspect for oil leaks and/or broken head bolts Look at the service records for what fluids have been changed If you get it change the lifetime fluids and engine air filter Carfax report for accidents if you pay for it you get some maintenance records I would ask for the actual records also Look for the Mike Miller old school maintenance schedule and follow it consumer reports has some good tips for inspecting a used car and there free on there site. I can't seem to find any better deals than that, I drove a 328 it wasn't bad but not what I was looking for. For some reason I thought it had a premium pack what should I be looking for for that? To me it looks like leather?

I bought my 330 from an Acura dealer a year and a half ago as well. Generally, a dealer selling premium new cars usually doesn't put junk out on the lot so I would feel pretty good about not having BMW inspect it but every dealer is different. I think you could always have the vin checked out by your local BMW dealer for a service history as well. Mine has been solid but I should have done that first.

6MT is the way to go with the 330i, in order to extract all the sweet torque and goodness the N52 offers. Now that I've pat myself on the back, I would say the fact that you're stepping into a $19k deal here, and all you have to go off of is your internet forum buddies and a dealer website is quite bothersome. You don't want to cough up $150 for a full BMW work-up at the dealer? If they do not allow you to borrow it to drive up the street to BMW, I would be very suspicious. These machines are pretty advanced, and you will never come to realize what kind of deal you're getting, until you plug that key fob into the dealer computer. Carfax is good and all, but only in very broad terms.
I would pay $20k for an impeccably maintained one (pretty darn rare to find). I would offer $15.5k for this one (possibly close at $16.5k). My fellow 330i hunch tells me that this one was not kept up to par. I'll even go on a limb and say this puppy will set you back a sweet $2k, just to get it back to spec. -Water pump -Ignition coils -Lifetime fluids and filter service Take home point: Do your homework. Cough it up. Take it to the dealer. It's the new way to buy a car. The days of kicking tires and popping hoods are far gone. Last edited by Falafel Combo; 08-14-2011 at 10:10 AM.. |

Wow thanks for the info shicobico, very informative. When I was talking to the dealer over the phone, I live3 hours away. He said they are pretty firm on prices I think whatever one I find I will have it checked out now. There was one that was identical but with premium pack at a BMW dealer for the same price with 3k less miles so I can only assume that is a fair price but I've never bought a BMW. Kbb and nada say it's good so that and the comparable cars is what I've been going off of. So how can you guys tell it doesn't have the premium pack? I can't see the rearview mirror and it looks like leather?? Thanks again for all the help.

To give you a comparison my 330xi is about $21k on KBB. It's fully loaded except sport package.
KBB has been really off though. |

Lumbar support, home link + compass on the mirror and I don't know what else. Not much else I can think of on top of my head.

The interior door panel says it all. Leather interior has leather door panels which have horizontal stitching across the door panel near the handle. This has no stitching. The premium package also has power retracting / folding mirrors which adds another button next to the power mirror controls. I'd hold out for one with sport, premium, and probably nav. After owning mine with idrive / nav I wouldn't get one without it.
