This may sound odd

I want a cat less exhaust system (currently have cat less dps). But I don't want a loud exhaust. I like the ETS system, but is there something I can do to make it even quieter.

If I just remove the mid pipes and ad resonators and leave the stock mufflers will I get the same power as a typical cat less exhaust but be quieter?

Thanks

Well the stock exhaust has some crush points, therefor the stick exhaust will not make as much power as a aftermarket one. Plus the stock exhaust is much heavier than a aftermarket one cause it's made out of steel vs aluminum. But it's up to u want u want to do. Some of the people on the forum did kinda the same thing ur trying to do but instead of putting in resonators they cut out the crushed points and had it custom fit by their local exhaust shop and cut off the factor muffs and had some magnaflows in. There is a whole thread on it.

Do the magna flows mufflers come in different "loudness" stages?

This is a good question. I'd like to have as free flowing exhaust as possible. Catless, of course and as silent mufflers as possible without compromising the flow. However, not much comparisons around as of which mufflers are the most efficient in muffling and flowing.

well i think the magnaflows come in different sizes, but i think they all pretty much sound the same. and if you do it and its too loud you can always put in some magnaflow resonators in... but if your trying to get some more power u might wanna get a aftermarket exhaust.

+1 AE is perfect for me....quite when you want it and intoxicating when you need it. It's also one of the best performing exhausts HP wise and is a huge weight reduction over stock.

Garage List
For those who have AE, how much louder is it once you add catless DPs? It's hard to tell from the videos but from what I can grasp, adding DPs makes it sound "rougher" with more of a growl.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, does the AE sound better with stock or catless DPs?

get AR catless DPs with resonators. I have a set and they are not loud at all. From there, the aftermarket catback exhaust will sound as though you're running oem catted DPs

This guy is clueless and is not adding anything to the discussion, he probably thinks Eisemann Race or straight 3" are the best sounding. AE has probably the best sound out there, although most exhaust sound very similar. The AR catless downpipes I have added about 25% more sound, still sounds great! The only other exhaust I would suggest for you would be BMW Performance.

I have to agree..the more refined driver will appreciate the AE..then you have those who want the fart rocket sound who say it sounds terrible..

It sounds deep and growls especially w catless DPs but isnt overbearing..

Your best bet OP is to try and find someone and listen to it in person
