Just bought 335XI when should I change the oil???

I bought a used 08 335Xi with 50k miles....It was well taken care of, I mean the inside looks better than some 2011's that I looked at..No joke! The previous owner babied this thing like crazy. When should I change the oil? Will a indicator light come on the dash or the navigation screen? Or should I just take it BMW and have them service this thing? And how much is a oil change on a 335xi anyways?

BMW claim ever 15,000 miles.

It is highly recommended that you change it every 5,000.

Your car should indicate in the central odometer how miles you have left until your next oil change. Read the manual for reference.

An oil change at an independent shop shouldn't cost more than $100.

Congrats! Find out when the oil was last changed. If > 5000 miles have it done soon.

(BTW - sounds like my car, but I only have 21K miles! I seriously recommend getting much lighter wheels, non-run flats and replace the suspension with coilovers. The car now handles 200% better.)

The service indicator will tell you the recommended timing, just scroll through the settings to see the milage left before next service. The recommendation is set by the computer depending how aggressive you drive.

When I bought my car slilghtly used it was on track for a change after 29K km. (way too long)

Personally I do one oil change in between every BMW resommended change.

BMW says every 15k but I do it every 7-8k I pay for one and the dealer covers the next.

Not sure if you changed the oil yet, but you can do it for about $80 and put really good oil in it. I went with a Mobile 1 0W-20 full synthetic for about $8.50 a quart. If you can find 0W-30 I would get that. You need 6.5 quarts. Also the Wix filters or a BMW filter will run you about $15.00 each.

You can do it pretty easy also. I just had a hard time removing the oil filter cap. I had to get one of the oil filter wrenches to get the cap off, but other then that, it should take about 20-30 minutes to change.
