wheels question
So i know there are some suspension parts out there that dont work with the xi's but im wondering if i slap any bmw wheel on there will i have issues? What if i only go with 18s instead of 19's, and what offset can i get to and tire size but still have no rubbing or issues???
thanks guys |

Assuming that the wheels actually fit over the brakes and in the wheel well then yes. All the tires must be the same height though, like 30 series, 35, 40 etc. I believe the widths can be different though.

If you go 18s then go with:
Front: 225/40/18 Rear: 255/35/18 If you go with 19s then go with: Front: 235/35/19 Rear: 265/30/19 or 275/30/19 (Depending on your offsets, tire sidewall design, etc.) Keep us updated if you get some wheels and post some pics once done. Enjoy the 3'er.

I plan on taking measurements from the ground to the start of the fender. I will send before and after measurements and photos.
I'm also contemplating not lowering the rears. They already look good - it's the fronts that are bad. Does anybody have any advice here?

You know how the Lexus IS model points down? I wonder if our cars would look like that if we just lowered the front...? Not that I am saying that a frontward, downward scenario is good..... I'm just saying that there should be an equal wheel gap in front and back... right? We are cursed with the 4X4 look with our XI's. Maybe a front-only-drop is the answer.

I wrapped the roof, mirrors, and trim in 3M matte vinyl. It turned out really good. The 3M is the way to go. I tried to work with the Avery Gloss Vinyl and it was near impossible to get perfect, at least for a rookie. I love the Black roof on white, looks stunning! I vote for DO IT!

ok.....so now im wondering if i have a square setup with these dimensions
Size: 18x9 Offset: 35mm Backspacing: 6.49" Bolt Pattern: 5-120 Rec. Tire Size: 255/35-18 The site offers fronts in a smaller width and different offset, but i want to keep it a square setup, would the 35mm offset be alright on all four corners...? |
