Change in exhaust sound over time?
So I ended up installing brand new magnaflow mufflers on my car.. I'm curious, does the sound of the exhaust change over time, maybe as some of the dampening material gets coated or is there a break in period?
I just want to know if I can expect any changes over the next few weeks.. seems kinda subdued to me right now, even though it's fully katless.. |

Hmm thanks.. that was for 328 but should apply for any new exhaust I guess. So that one guy responded that it got a little deeper, any other experiences? I'm curious if it will get louder.. it's similar volume to stock w/CL DP IMO.. but not ricey thank god.

I was definitely disappointed with my Akrapovic at first, it didn't seem much louder or deeper at all. Considering the price of it, that's not something you want to experience. But after a couple hundred miles and letting it really heat up and burn off, it made a pretty big difference. It's much throatier on start up and screams at high-revs, a very noticeable difference than out of the box. Hopefully it works out for you.

When I installed the magnaflow axel back on my 1er and I was so disappointed at first it was funny. After 50 miles or so it started to get deeper and increase in volume. 3k miles later the tone is honestly perfect, but id still like more volume so I'm trying to get rid of my secondary cats. But that's almost impossible to do in the state of VA, no shop will touch a car w/o cats much less remove them and I have no welding experience so I'm shit out of luck as of right now.

Inspections not a problem, I've got several friends in the local ford dealership that will pass it(hell, my buddys single turbo camaro got an inspection sticker and that doesn't have a single emmisions control device left lol.) Its that if the shop is caught removing cats they lose their bussines license, if what the guy at the shop told me is true.

For inspections look at your surrounding counties / whatever they are called. I didn't even realize until this last inspection, but my local county here in Austin doesn't do emissions testing, only safety.
