accidently hit someone while backing up.

What happens if I accidentally hit someone while backing up in the parking lot.. He was on a bike and was riding on the road. He said he was ok, but I gave him my card and contact info incase he was really hurt.

Just want to know if I'll be liable for any damages and if it is entirely my fault.. Dude was going pretty fast and came form the right side.

it will be your fault and you may be liable for it. similar thing happened to me before. I was on highway and turning to left, suddenly a car came and hit me, and I have to be liable for it coz the police said I didn't look clearly before I proceed. i told them i couldnt see that guy's coming but it seems like they dont even care. in your case, you didn't "look clearly" and you proceed... I am still dealing with my case now and don't know if I can get te liable proble away. hope you'll be fine. did you hit him hard? if he said he's ok then I think you're gonna be ok....

so this happened in parking lot or on the road?
if he was on the road, it will be your fault entirely as you have to proceed with caution prior. if it happened in parking lot (private property), it's more situational, going by case by case. i would think, since you said he was going pretty fast, you could argue but it is still your responsibility to check oncoming traffic was clear.

i think this is like 4th or 5th accident i saw you running into... best luck to you man...

It was in the parking lot, technically, he shouldn't have been riding his bike there. You are supposed to walk your bike where there isn't a designated area for bikes (bike lanes). It was more like a love tap but since he was going so fast it knocked him down and off his bike. He seemed to be limping a little on the leg that came in contact with my rear but he seemed ok. I don't think he will try and get anything out of it or file a claim.

Haha, yeah man.. Idk, something about this car I swear. Bad luck?

It was in a parking lot that’s privet property and normally has no laws so most rulings there go 50/50 each fix his own.
