My 330i was hit... In a parking lot!
Arrggg.... I come out of my office tonight around 6pm and I see 4 police officers surrounding my car in the parking lot. As I approach I see that the entire front right portion of my 330i (with only 5k miles on it) is torn off the car! Apparently the driver jumped the curb and smashed into my car and then continued until a retaining wall stopped their progress. No one was hurt and I got their insurance information, but my car is a mess. It's hard to tell from the photos, but the wheel is bent a good 30 degrees to the left.
I've owned enough cars in my life to know that no matter how good the repair job is, it is never as good as it was new from the factory. I'm certain that when they bend everything back and put it all together again, there will be issues. I'm certain there will be a shake, vibration, or something. I'm sure there's no chance, but I'd rather have them total the car than "fix" it leaving me with what's bound to be a headache in the future. Can this really be fixed good as new? Sorry for venting, but I needed to get it all out :-) Rich |

Definitely sue the person after. Or at least settle for enough money so you can trade in your car after you fix it.

Man I know how you feel. When I crashed my M3 a few years ago I wanted them to total it for the same reasons you mentionned. The insurance did not want to total it. I found the best repair shop. The guy that worked on my car loves the M3. It was his favorite car and he took his time. He did a fantastic job and the car is just like when it was new. No problem no shake no vibration no nothing.
Good luck whatever happens.

Wow that sucks, sorry to see/hear that...
Looking at the damage, there is no chance that is a total. Aside from the front fascia and lights, there should be some relatively minor suspension damage but I think your main and subframe should be ok. I say sub-5k in repair costs. GL with everything. That was such a freak accident.

Poor Little guy! Best of luck on the repairs, I don't think you will have rattles and pops, I had my rear bumper replaced and it looks and sounds like nothing ever happened!

damaged that can be seen from the pictures, is considered a crash part. They will unscrew the damaged parts, and will screw on the new ones. And a BMW authorized bodyshop will do everything to specifications and with the required tolerances. While it was an unfortunate event, I wouldn't worry that much if I were you. Get your list of authorized bodyshops to fix your car, do your homework about the quality of work they do, pick one and take your car there. Best of luck. I'm sure at the end your car will look and drive as before the accident |

You should have parked somewhere else!! Just kidding. Sorry about your misfortunes. I hope this gets settled in the proper manner. On the bright side, glad to know this is not your typical hit and run...

that sucks so much man, your right it will never drive the same way again, plus your resale value is down the drain because people will know it was in a wreck (they need to start compensating for that when you get into accidents)
its nice in some way though to see someone in an accident that wasnt do to their complete idiocy though

Man, sh!t happens...I'll tell you that. In today's crazy world, you have to expect the worst unfortunately. Luckily, life isn't over.
Good luck with whatever you plan to do with it. I am sure it can be fixed pretty well. |
