Question for those who had a failed fuel pump

Did you notice any increase in RPM's at idle before the car went into a limp mode? I am occasionally (once every 2-3 days) experiencing a slight rise in the RPMs at idling from 600 to 700-750 after about 20 minuts of driving, and a corresponding rise of the oil temp from 230 to 240. Is that a symptom of a potential fuel pump problem? I'm getting a bit paranoic here with all recent reports about dying 335i's. I do not have any extended crank up time though.
