It will never go above 15,000 miles. It has been switched to kilometers.

Same here! I have driven about 12000 miles right now and the computer still shows 10000 miles to go!

The number is "this many more miles until service". Depending on your driving habits, it can be a long time. But the number displayed will never exceed 15,000.

they do this now, the 2007 models do not have 15k set as a hard interval... its based on your driving style, and some dealers wont even service your car until after the car says so... even if its been a year!

it's entirely about how you drive it... the more time at higher rpm's the quicker the counter will go down. it also seems to go down by 250mi increments or something. try to forget about fuel mileage for a while and run it harder for a few weeks to see how quick it goes down.

The calculation is an algorithm of the number of gallons of fuel the vehicle has consumed. It's fun to think it's highly sophisticated and taking many things into consideration, but it's not.
Poorer gas mileage = shorter service intervals Ultimately, MPG is probably the best long term way to determine how the car has been driven, so that's how it's done.
