335 Warmup question

How long does it normally take for your oil temp gauge to start moving? My commute is about 15 minutes and its almost by the time Im parking that the needle has budged.

Does this change over time with break in? How much does weather temp affect this?

well obviously if its 40 degrees out it will take longer than say here where its 80 out, more because the oil starts at 40 then because its getting cooled by 40 degree air

for me my cars fully warm by the time i get to class which is my shortest trip, 10-15 minutes max, but i drive full throttle (still below 4k), a lot of people say not to use full throttle till its warm though

70-80 deg outside, about 15min to warm up to ~210, driving gently in light/no traffic.

Black car, if that makes a difference.

Same here, takes forever for mine to move to operating temperature, sometimes i want to gun it but i look at the gauge and it's still at 120...

We complain about it not getting hot fast enough, then we complain about it getting too hot...

Never happy

White cars tend to take longer because they reflect the sun's heat.
Black cars would warm-up faster because they absorb most of the heat.
If it's cloudy, then....

Here are my results: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...435#post782435

On a side note, the worst thing you can do to a car is turn it on drive a very short distance and turn it off. Maybe try taking the long way in the morning.

And, no it won't change with break-in.

So do I but it's frustrating because my commute is about 6 minutes or 1.5 miles....

Damn thing is never warmed up by the time I get to work. SO, I end up taking these 15 mile long detours to get to work...
