What's selling worse, Z4 Coupe or Z4 M Coupe?
After some consideration I've decided my next car will be a Z4 (M) Coupe. I really love the new E92 335i, its power, torque, design, but I've never owned a little coupe like the Z4. Moreover, once I get married (within the next 5-7 years), there is no way I'll be able to get a 2-seater like that anymore.
I know Z4s are not selling particularly well so it's practically a buyer's market. The question is though, can I get a better price on a Z4 or on Z4 M Coupe? If I could get a well equipped Z4 M for the same price as regular Z4, I'd definitely go for that. I know they're different cars and blah blah blah, but I'm just looking at the money factor now. And no, maintenance would not be an issue because I will most likely trade it in within 3-4 years or before full-maintenance expires. I know ward mentioned he got almost $8k off of his roadster. Do you think it's feasible to get such a great discount these days?

I believe there are far better (i.e. bigger) discounts to be found on the roadsters (3.0i, 3.0si and the M) as compared to the coupe variants.

hmm, i definitely want the coupe, not the roadster. in that case, that sucks (for me).

I've got an M Coupe on order, and I got $1000 over invoice (if you buy off the lot, you may be able to do better).
And BTW, DEFINITELY get the M Coupe over the 335. I'm leasing for 30 months, looking to buy (not lease) an M3 4dr. in the fall of '09. I got the M Coupe based on the same reasons you are considering. It'll be a wholly different, more visceral, true sports car experience. I've driven the 335 - it's fast, it handles well, but it's not an M and it's no sports car. Remember, the M Coupe is effectively the M3 Competition Package in a lighter (by 200lbs) car. |

can i ask how much you're gonna be paying a month?
also, $1000 over invoice isn't so great (considering my note about ward getting $8000 below MSRP) but i guess you can't expect anything better on ///M cars. i just hoped they would sell a lot cheaper since there isn't a big demand for them. i'll probably have to end up with just a Z4 Coupe.

About $714/month (which includes 10% tax on $649 monthly payment) w/ $2500 down. I think I will just put minimum down (which is about $1800), which will make the payment go up a bit, but not much.
$52,750 all in (incl. gas guzzler) for all options other than NAV 30 months MF .00125 If BMWFS lease rates/programs go down in April/May, I get the better program. I think you might be able to get cheaper if you buy one off the lot. If not, the dealer can always choose to forgo the use of the production slot and just trade it w/ another dealer. They do that all the time. Thus, even w/ low demand, the dealer isn't all that incentivized to sell on the cheap (unless they can't trade the production slot, but considering how few slots are available, someone always needs one somewhere in the country) unless the car is already part of the their stock and is draining working capital by sitting on the lot (i.e., they own it and haven't sold it yet). |
