Question: If my car is going to ship to the west coast via NYK, will it show up on the Wallenius(forgive me if its spelled wrong) site at all?

i would say no? different shipping companies, but NYK has a website.

Unfortunately I heard NYK site blows billy goats!

No. Other lines' ships do not show up and neither NYK or K-Line (some ships to Charleston) have VIN tracking.

That sucks... Im going to have to figure out a way to track the NYK line since it's coming to So Cal. I should at least be able to get the name of the ship and some sort of tracking number from my dealer (I HOPE) whether its a Bill of Lading or container number if the cars are transported in containers... I have some connections with NYK... If I can get any useful info I will do my best to help all others with cars coming to the west coast via NYK...

Your CA can get the departure and scheduled arrival time and usually the ship name (although some CA's seem to be lazy about actually doing it).

The cars are NOT shipped in containers (they are driven on and off). I suspect that the VIN is also used on NYK, it's just that their web site doesn't have any way to get to it.

Yea oh well... at least the customer relation on the 800# may have been blowing smoke up my a$$ but she felt confident that my car would be on the water in the next day or 2... fingers crossed... it's only been at the port awaiting a vessel sice the 19th.

Are you sure your on NYK because i am a west coast delivery but my car is being shipped on Figaro, one of the Wallenius ships. I am able to track it on this site.

I hear you. There is some old and incorrect information in the "Vehicle ordering and tracking" sticky thread. Especially the bit that says NYK is the only shipping line going to the west coast.

In fact, you can check the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site and the schedules section and see there are about 5 sailings a month from Bremerhaven to Port Hueneme. They also show a 24-day transit time for each voyage...

You've probably got a 50-50 chance you're on a WW boat. Keep your fingers crossed becuase the other lines's website do suck from a tracking standpoint.

As mentioned elsewhere, your CA can find out what line/boat your car is on. Hopefully they (the ship/shipping company) participate in the voluntary position/weather reporting program and you can track the ship on the www.sailwx.info site.
