Procede v5 Traction Control (video and datalogs)
Now that we are back on track with v5, here's a little demo of the traction control system we've been working on. It's a bit more sophisticated and functional than the old TC we offered. It has the ability to reduced torque by as much as ~200lb-fts when traction loss is detected. As before, you will be able to set its "sensitivity" to best suit your driving preferences. It will work in combination BMW DCT/DSC. But it really shows its merit when all the BMW nannies are turned off as down below.
Same stretch of road. Tested in Mexico. Datalogs will show what the Procede is doing with boost with respect to detected wheelspin. Video will show what I'm doing with the steering to control oversteer/wheelspin. Put them both together and you have a pretty good idea of what is going on. BMW Traction Control ON (set to max sensitivity) BMW Traction Control OFF Summary Depending on the severity/duration of wheelspin, boost will be dropped to as low as 0psi. Once traction is regained, boosts will be brought back up to the normal target level. As the videos demonstrate, there is a lot more driver involvement needed when Procede TC is off. Much more throttle management. Much more steering correction at turn exit when applying power. Basically, more of a handful to drive. All testing was done on a 6AT FBO car running performance tires, a few m3 suspension bits and Koni FSD shocks. The roads were completely dry. I'm looking forward to retesting on wet surfaces. Disclaimer Do not attempt this on public roads. We do not condone such tomfoolery. This testing was done in a controlled environment with a professional test driver. Procede Traction Control IS NOT A STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM. It will not apply brake force to any wheel. It will not prevent a loss of car control. It is purely a feature designed to manage wheelspeen under power. As always, this is an off-road-use only product/feature. |

That was just demonstrating a traction threshold setting of 0% (TC on) and 100% (TC off). I personally run a value of 40% which allows just enough whelspin to have fun. But not too much to ever slow you down.
That was tested on an n54. No meth installed (yet). Just 91oct and FBO. |

If yo can, see if you can get your hands on a xi car to see the difference in wheel-spin with traction control off. I'll like to compare videos and see the difference in logs.
Will these logs look difference if DTC is engaged? (Pressing the DTC button once) |

Very exciting stuff Shiv. Can't wait to test it on track! Besides the smooth throttle response, this is probably my most anticipated feature for track use!
I'd be interested in seeing what datalogs look like w/ DTC pressed once (just DSC). Any chance you have any on hand?

I dont know about you, but the only time I can get mine to even chirp the tires is a full launch in standing water --- if you're manual... you may be able to get some more out of the hole. Other than that, only on really tight bends with full throttle, but the traction loss only helps the car rotate at that point.

So Shiv, If I leave TC off (100%), would it act as if I pressing the DTC button once or will I have to press it to feel what I'm describing above? |

i like how the xi ppl are rubbing it in our faces. "Oh i never see traction control turn on... i dont see how this will be useful..." Obviously it just means either you havnt driven your car hard enough, dont have enough power, or you have so much traction its not even a concern.

Here are two little standing start, straight line runs I did with Procede TC ON and TC off. BMW nannies were completely disabled. Foot to the floor. Can you guess which run is which?

I cant get a clean 1-2 shift without the traction control light kicking on and bogging when i get on it. I messed with the settings on my procede and it seems to help some times

I was thinking the same thing I can't wait to test these out! (in Mexico hopefully) Keep up the great work Shiv!
How does this effect the functionality of LSD's? Does it work in coordination with it, or will it cut off torque once it detects wheel spin?
