Cobb question?

Lets say someone with a Dinan flash or GIAC flash wanted to go to Cobb when stage 2 comes out or ATR comes out, would they have to reflash to BMW OEM or would Cobb override that?

The best way would be to uninstall the Dinan or GIAC flash and then install the Cobb.

I have Dinan and I flashed over the tune with Cobb AP. I recommend flashing back to stock from the dealer then going Cobb. I only say this becuase if you have to go back to the Dealer for service, once you uninstall the Cobb it puts a BMW stock map back on the car but it does not match the coding correctly. It will not through a check engine light but it will have a coding error. The Dealer will suspect foul play and could take away your warranty. as for me I went through this but I told BMW Dinan flashed me back to stock because of my HPFP recall. They said ok and replace my pump and recoded the car.

Access Tuner Race I believe

Definitely reflash to stock first. The dealer should do it for free

lol, you should tell them you have some serious concerns with the safety of the Dinan tune due to all the added power

Sure, when you don't have warranty these concerns aren't valid anymore so I can see why you wouldn't be scared. It's logical.

I am sick of BMW trying to run my life (car related) by hanging "warranty!" over my head. I told my SA that I mod and race the car... he said "hell yeah that is what BMW's are built to do" and they even hold local racing events here at Barbers. He said they don't care what I do as long as I don't mess with the ECU... only because they have seen cars with different software that makes them unable to do their own flashes and maintenance. Cobb AP sounded logical to me then, I can just unintall (back to stock tune) for dealer visits and the rest is fine.

I got the same sort of thing with my SA. I was considering buying a dinan exhaust just so they turn more of a blind eye to my other mods, but they seem fine with it as long as I'm not running a tune(har har)

+1 , I would most definitely recommend that you flash the car to the stock map, then flashing the car to the COBB Stage 1 or Stage 2 (when it's released).
