Very impressed with the N54...

Wow… 10 days ago I traded my modded Mitsubishi Evolution MR for a ’07 335i Coupe. Since I bought the car I ditched the run flat tires for BFG T/A KDW2’s, put a Cobb AP Stage 1 93o tune on it, and catless downpipes. I have forgotten what it feels like to have no traction since I was in the Evo for so long. But those two power mods have completely overwhelmed the BFG KDW2’s… I was in a hurry to do an intake (purchased but uninstalled) and intercooler, but now may postpone those in lieu of an LSD.

This car is incredibly responsive to mods, and the dyno sheet below shows the mods that I replicated but at different times on a different car (stock, stock with AP 93o tune, then adding downpipes). This was on Cobb’s Mustang dyno here in Plano TX:

I’ll be doing the intake for sure since I am already on that path; then will make a decision on either intercooler or LSD next. I honestly didn’t think I’d need the LSD on the street, but it’s definitely required on this car at this power level.

Sorry to but I think your evo would have done better with mods. The 335 get stuck around 500whp with full bolt ons turbo upgrade and meth due to some bottlenecks.

I modded the Evo plenty...and it didn't do near as good. Stock it put down 218whp/207tq. After full exhaust (turbo back), intake, intercooler, hot and cold charge pipes, custom tune, upgraded fueling, and upped boost I put down 283whp/282tq. Then I had to upgrade the clutch, then destroyed a transmission, then a transfer case... After $8,000 in mod money went to fix the weak drivetrain I got rid of it.

This was my car on the same exact dyno:

In what world do you see Evo's with + 500whp??

Great work on the 335 so far OP, and those were awesome mods on your evo. Would love to see pics of it.

Evos can make disgusting power but you need bigger turbos and a built motor. I have multiple buddies that are in the 9-10s in them. Congratulations on the n54 though it is a great motor.

My buddy's EVO is pushing 30psi on stock turbos! But he won't tell me the WHP! Not sure Y. I told him we should do a few pulls, just to see how my car performs but he just laugh and reply "bro u do know u drive an inline 6 twin turbo"

WHP isn't everything. Evo has weight, AWD and LSD on it's side.

I got a ride in a 10 second Evo once... the turbo lag was terrible. Definitely not a car I would ever drive around

These tuner dynos are very deceptive. There's no way we are putting down 240whp/273wtq stock, even in 6AT trim! They show you what they want you to see, and exaggerate the data.

Of course there is...did you miss the part that this is a Mustang dyno?

The part that I find very interesting though isn't the baseline, its the delta with the stage 1 tune and those boltons...110whp? If true that's incredible for the boost its setup to run but something doesn't look right there or the conditions changed...the delta shouldn't be that large for 14psi

It depends on the dyno. My car put down 245 stock.

I would skip both LSD n FMIC, especially for the street. I would Chk if u have an oil cooler first. And wait a month or two and see how Ur does. If Ur tracking you would most likely need oil cooler, FMIC and if Ur like a pro then get LSD for the track. Just my two cents.

Otherwise enjoy the power...that's sad about the EVO I expected it be strong like previous generations. I guess I'm glad the Mitsubishi dealer didn't drop his price to my asking price...so glad I have my Twinz

Guy that worked at an audio shop down the street from my previous work had a 620 whp evo 8.

That's the most I've seen in-person [for a street evo], but I know there are plenty pushing much more.
