broken turbo.... repair or replace it?

Hello and greetings from Greece.

Today I noticed some blueish smoke when hitting WOT from the right exhaust (custom catless exhaust, right exhaust tip for the second turbo). After idling for a while some blueish smoke was coming out of the right exhaust too. Which means that the rear turbo will die soon. It happens only after some WOT at full boost and stops when boost reaches 17.2 psi.

Is it time to replace the turbo? My mileage is 27.500 km (17000 miles) and I changed oil (Castrol Edge sport 0-40) 1200 miles ago. The oil consumption is normal for the mileage although the smoke occurred a while ago.

Instead of replacing the turbo should I try this service kit?

there is also a flap - flap noise coming out from the right exhaust tip

Weird that it went so fast...I'd replace it under warranty this time as they may find out why it failed so early too

If you can get it for free do that first.

Then if you want to upgrade sell your OE turbos or do a core exchange to get the RBs cheaper

When you have the turbo off..make sure you check your valve guide seals.

I will take it on Wednesday to my dealer. My car is fully upgraded at first stage + meth so it will be hard enough to install the OEM parts back, but I think there is a solution to that

The RBs is the next step, but it I am out of budget at he moment. I will try to replace the OEM turbo with a new one and if they let me keep the old one I will try the service kit.

It is weird since the mileage is not that much.

hotrod182: it is the second time that someone mentions that. I hope that there is not such damage to the valve guide seals.

I will drive my car tonight. I hope I will not get again smoke from the exhaust.
