I was in the same boat as you and met up with a local here to listen to the muffler delete, and to summarize it; its obnoxiously loud. I could not imagine a long road trip with that drone. The sound does not fit the car, but this is just my opinion. What I did like about it is the gargling and popping of the exhaust when letting off or shifting gears. The drone kills the deal though.

Correct sir!
I went to my local exhaust shop - quoted $120-$130 Then add another $100 for tips. Starting to think i should just save up and find a USED full kit...... Thoughts? |

I was in your position a long time ago with my 135i, I wanted a louder and nicer sounding exhaust, but didn't have the money at the time to get one. I now regret that because I finally have a full system, and the sound compared to the muffler delete is a lot different, and more smooth throughout the powerband. If you get downpipes, you might want to consider a muffler because this engine is loud!

Find some decent used mufflers, because muffler delete sounds CORNY !!! I love loud mean exhaust but that's not what muffler delete sounds like, trust me.

I'm 23 on a budget too, not using mommy and daddys checking account since I was 15, if I were you I just wouldn't do anything, just drive stock, Cat delete will give you a much nicer growl, along with ctless dp's , the muffler delete is not even loud it's just fucking drone and rasp, and when flooring it you can't hear it, wtf is the point ? No point.

I find it funny that you let someone over the internet convince you of not getting something when you haven't even heard it in person.

As do I. Half the people that preach information on these forums are completely clueless.

I decided not to get this mod, due to the fact its going to do absolutely nothing for performance. I'm leaning more toward the raceland downpipes. Gains power and same price. |
