(DIY) One little piece needed to enable our USA rear fog lights

(DIY) enable our USA rear fog lights for E90 & E92

I took my light switch apart and discover that our switch has the ability for rear fogs, but there's one little piece needed/missing to activate it.

The switch is very easy to take apart.....just a few clips on the sides
(check other diy on how to take the light switch off)

Pic 1
Components of the switch

Pic 2
To have rear fogs…this is the piece we’ll need.
Another words, we’ll have to duplicate this

Pic 3
cut/clip the (yellow) circled areas will enable the rear fog button

(Edit)
Pic # 3 & 4......the button has "4" clips not 3...its placed inside so I took out the button and cut off the 4 clips on the button

Now taking out the button can be tricky....I used two small flat-head screw drivers to unclip the inside in order to release the button

Pic 5
Main Board – To activate the fogs (front & rear), the two rubber nipples must be pressed (left/right).

Now.....how do we duplicate the "white piece"
I use a plastic exercise grip.....cut it to the shape of the white piece and just glue a flat surface on top.
You can also use a plastic pen cap, legos, golf tee, or whatever works for you

Pic 6
OEM white piece - duplicate piece
The duplicate piece is longer because the white piece has a built in stop where as the duplicate don't, so it needs to be longer in order to hit the rubber.

EDIT: some new models/LCI already have the 2nd white piece inside.

So can we just fabricate something to make it work? Isnt the buttons to activate the rear fogs different too?

ok...
the USA switch has one (white piece)...the Germany switch has two (white piece)
each piece is the extension from the button to the main board

so for those that already bought the german switch (part # 61316932796), they can give away their piece from the old USA switch

then what extra piece are you referring to? are you saying the german switch owners can give the 2nd white piece away?

also, for me with the regular US version, if i do mod it, how can i make it so that the button presses inward, right now it doesnt go in at all.

OMG...no one is reading...lol
look at pic # 3

use a razor blade and cut those clips off

so for those that already bought the german switch (part # 61316932796), they can give away their piece from the old USA switch

dude i read perfectly.... nowhere did u say to cut it off lol. u said to unclip it. and then you said people with the german switch can give their "extra" piece away. i know the german switch has two buttons, hence two white pieces, but then when u said extra piece, i thought they had a spare white piece totalling in 3....

u made it unclear, now i know what you meant was, give the german switch in its entirety away, since this mod is easy to do!

but how would i fabricate a white piece? im still thinking.

Ok, you lost me here. Wouldnt you need that piece for the second set of buttons on the resister board? If they give it away, they are left in the same place as us who have to fabricate something.

hyper, he meant give the german switch in its entirety away, since this mod is easy to do! we just need to figure out how to fabricate the small white piece. maybe we can create a small mold out of the white piece we already have. im just a little scared if i mess up, but if i do i could just buy a german part which is only 55 bucks anyway.

Alright... if you guys are going to do this rear fog light mod (which is a great mod, good work ), don't be one of those dumbasses who always puts them on all the time when they are not needed. I always see people in audi's driving like this. I don't think many people understand when to use rear fogs or even know that they turned them on. I'm not saying people on this forum would do that, just be aware and use them appropriately (ie in heavy rain and dense fog).
