I-drive not standard?

Is the I-drive a standard feature or does it come with an upgrade package?

Thank God its not standard, I wouldn't have bought the car with the iDrive, but that's just me. I am not a fan of everything being controlled by the centrally located iDrive knob. I specifically ordered my E92 335 without premium package as so avoid having it. A LOT of people love iDrive, but it's just not for me. If you'd like the iDrive, you need to order the premium package, which if I remember correctly, is in the neighborhood of $3100

Not true. NAV is a standalone option. $2100. No PP necessary.

I drive does have a fairly complex menu structure and it can take ages to do a simple task if you cant remember the sequence but with voice control a lot of the frustration is taken away as you can go straight to the relevant screen with a simple voice command.

I purchased the Premium Pack and do not have the I drive. If its not to late, get the PP. Plus if you have already ordered leather, the PP is only $1000 more.

From reading this thread, I am a bit confused, as the first dealer I dealt with (when placing my E93 335 order) told me that the premium package was an additional $3100. Can someone straighten me out on the prices for the premium package?

Um... since you're on this forum, we can assume you are able to connect to the Internet, right?

Try www.bmwusa.com. You can "build your own" and and options and see the components of packages, and the prices for them.

I have to quit coming into this thread... I think some drool just got on me.

HAHA those were going to be my exact words when I read the subject title, but you beat me to it

BTW as other posters have said the premium pkg has nothing to do with idrive which is a stand laone option. You can order the car with every other option and still have no idrive.

Just checked, and I could not find it

Using the 335i coupe as a guide. In the "build your own "configurer, if you choose Leather seats, adding the PP increases the MSRP by only $1100 instead of the $2550 listed for the PP. When you do the configuration you have already chosen leather seats @ $1450 .Therfore, the PP is only an additional $1100. Perhaps the figures are different for the E 93 but the concept is the same.

Heck no.

On Bimmerfest a dude posted asking if BMW had a navigation system. He had never heard of iDrive, and while configuring the car online did not see the navigation system because he did not scroll to the second page of options (it only list 4 at a time).

iDrive is a standaloathe option. For a big pile of your hard-earned cash, you get a frustrating GPS system that performs far worse than a $350 Costco job, a malignant-looking bulge in the center of your dash, housing that sub-par GPS screen, and control over a bunch of other functions, most of which can be controlled just fine (and with far less frustration) without this turd.

If iDrive were mandatory in the 3, I'd have shopped elsewhere.

BMWNA needs to Make that second page more obvious though, seriously. I was prolly messing around two to three times before I realized there was a second page there...

But seriously, I think folks just get excited, haven't really checked into things too carefully and instead hit the forums all excited looking for information.

However...

I still see more ignorant owners not reading there freaking Owners Manuals and asking dumb questions, then potential owners asking dumb questions.

RYFOM, Not just an acronym.

KevinC, I'm not sure... are you saying you like iDrive?

I went through a lot of opinions here on this forum on I drive and my final consensus was that I should get I drive . I dont have any hands on experience with it but it a cool tool to play with .With the new programmable buttons we dont have to enter the I drive always for common things like changing audio channels. When I have my Bimmer I will put my experience with it on the forum. I think it the most debateable option when you are buying the BMW but the just my opinion
