Failed HEADGASKET Fixed

Had a bit of white smoke in the mornings and for the first time in a long long time I got a limp mode when I stepped on it.
(Not sure if it had anything to do with it) Took it to the shop and once they got underneath it and took apart the plastic covers the whole under side was covered in oil.....!

The guy at the shop gave me a 1hr brief of What the Deal is, why that job will be more and more common as the miles pile up on these cars.

the Head gaskets failing due to fatigue and ppl pretty much getting on boost when the car is cold etc...etc..!

Went over every bolt and inch by inch of the engine and head gasket, I got to see the blue bolts which are so damn air weight heavy for such a size they have.

I have faith in that shop, they are the ones that put my new turbos on over a year ago.
THANK GOD FOR Being wise and getting the extended warranty....!

Job total was around $5100.00 All paid for by the insurance, I had to authorize the tear down and pay for all the bolts.

Car has Procede V4
DCI
85K
6-MT

Total out of pocket $165.00

Getting the car back tomorrow.

That sucks...$5100 eh? How much did the parts cost you and how much was the labour? If I were in there I'd have gotten lower compression forged pistons and titanium rods and then put the lid back on it

I had thick white smoke in the morning in 2 different occasions that had a weird somehow plastic smell to it, and if the car had rested overnight and I would just get in and drive off right away there was a slight brief vibration that would go away after few minutes, I never overheated BUT I did see oil low level although i had an oil service done 1.5 months ago (leakage obviously)....! Mechanic is a friend, I was there when the car was lifted and the underbody plastics came off, everything was covered in oil.

I get that 165 part...i was asking more about what the shop paid for in parts and how many hours it took them to do the actual work...so basically exclude the car rental and what the shop showed to insurance how much for the parts + how much for labour only....if you have it great, if not no worries..

GAI Of South Florida....paid $2000.00 for it with turbocharger coverage included.

So far they have paid for

*New turbos
*Headgasket
*11 days worth of rentals

No questions ask or hard time, inspector comes out, checks the issue and approves the job.

Oil on the bottom could be from many other things as well, e.g. oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket, oil line, etc.

But if you had thick white smoke on startup and if you had a milk shake type coating on your oil cap then yeah i can see it being your head gasket..

I'd say that 2k is the best money you ever spent instead of that 300 in your sig

I do, sorry I didn't understand your question the first time around. He told me the bulk was labour, Engine/Transm/exhaust had to come off. Parts were around $800.00

It'd serve as a great reference to the community if you could post the breakdown, maybe even a scanned sheet showing part numbers they used...again, obviously if you don't have any of it, no problem

Try to get your hands on that original headgasket and post up a high res pic. I'd be really surprised if you had a bad head gasket. If you did, you would be losing coolant and/or pressurizing the cooling system and triggering coolant codes/dash lights/overheat warning/etc,.
