Paint Job

Am I having hands like sand paper or the F10 paint job is a little weak? Took my car for a brush-less hand wash yesterday. Under their high intensity lighting, there are swirl marks on my trunk lid. I don't have the auto-close function and the trunk is pretty tough to close. But it doesn't make too much sense that my hands have created so many swirl marks. Weird.

My car is Sapphire Black and I know it is not easy to maintain. Still have not put on any wax or sealant since delivery on Jan. I know the swirls could be easily fixed after I do a wax job. Also, a few chip mark on the hood. Not serious and could be wax off too. Only drove a few times on highways (I mean highways over 70km/hr). Just wanna say that the paint job a little weak.

Any of you guys have similar problem?

No. Probably because I haven't got my car yet and the rest of my cars are AWs.....

no paint chips or swirls at all.. but maybe i deliberately try not to look too closely to save me the heartbreak of seeing anything..
but the hood of my old black MB looked like a building in Iraq..
just wondering whether to let my helper wash with her special cleaning liquid she learnt from a car wash shop, or keep with water only. advantages of some cleaning substance is its smoother so you get less swirls, but i dont know about damage to paint with long term use..

mlai, stop crying buddy, you get your brand new car soon!

i only close by pressing the license plate..
the rear of car will have more scratches, because more dirt particles accumulate there from driving.. then it scratches when u wash it off.. maybe use a little cleaning liquid will help smooth it off with less scratches

mlai, i know, i know, your car will be sophisto grey, so you are bad, probably won't see any swirl marks.

Those imperfections can't be seen under normal lighting but shown up under bright artificial or sun light. The chips on the hood are not paint chips, more like surface scratches. So definitely will be gone by waxing. Probably will do a good wax job by next car wash.

I only use those micro-fiber cloths to wipe my car. nothing else.

I used micro fiber towel. But swirl marks only appear on the truck where I normally have my hands to close it. Swirl marks on that particular spot only. Are my hands like sand paper? I don't think so. The paint is just a bit weak.

Too bad I don't have the auto tailgate option.

now that you mention about your hand, i do find some on the door handle area where you will normally have your nails touching on when holding the handle.

I only washed my car twice, hehe.

First time, all hands and used micro-fiber cloths, monitor by me. 2nd time, washed at this place in North Point, very professional and that was when they told me those scratches.

That particular spot is where I usually close my trunk. Only caused by my hands.

Kau Sai Chau, which course? haven't played there for a while.

I played at Macau golf club last week with my friend from US. I have not played for more than a year, not even driving range. had one of the worse rounds. haha. May be I was to lazy to carry my clubs and rented a set there. No ball striking, no short game, no putting.

Ah.. what a great way to take the day off. Didn't you enjoy the drive there as much as the golf? Roll down the windows and open up the sunroof.. let the sun shine on you

driving there was a bit of a worry. it was very dark and cloudy.

and when i reached the car park, i realised i forgot to bring along my octopus card! luckily i remembered a friend of mine said there's a cheaper car park nearby and no need octopus card.

But you had a great driving day 250+yards that is.

Not the multi-story right across mcdonald's you are talking about. The driveways and spaces are ultra narrow and tiny.

Quick update:

Waxed my car and all swirls gone (except one very very slim swirl line on the trunk which could be hardly seen, don't know why it's still there ).

This car wash shop is pretty pro. Highly recommended. I probably will go there for my wash and wax from now on.

Car looking great on Friday after wash. Got a few drizzle Sunday afternoon and my car looked like Bambi again. Took me an hour Sunday night to wash and dry, shiny as new again. I think I have not washed any cars in dog years, may be 20 years+ ago in the States was the last time.

Don't know how long I can keep this up, I might be the laziest car washer on earth.
