replacing RV mirror?

Hey all...

I want to replace my rv mirror with one that auto dims...Pacific BMW offers one for $227.00 plus shipping. They offer one with the universal Transceiver as well for $367.00, again plus shipping.

These are said to be for the E90 with rain sensing wipers.

A few questions:

1. Seem like a fair price? If so, which is the better deal?
2. Has anyone done this?
3. If so, is there a DIY for it?

Thanks to anyone witht the knowledge to comment or give direction. If you guys give the go ahead, I will order tomorrow.

If you dont have auto dimming you would probably not have the wiring for it

The E46 had a retrofit kit, but I havent seen one for the E90 yet

the only difference between the two is one will open a garage door, and 140 dollars??? im not really sure if its worth it. personally. my last two cars had that, and i could never get it to work. im not sure if it was my garage, or if it was my lack of intelligence, but i tried for like an hour and got nothing.
i really only think this would be cool if you could program all 3. like if you lived in a gated community and had a garage and had a gate at work. and each one got used almost everyday. then it would be worth the money

I had same problem with my last 3 cars.
Many garage doors today have a roaming code feature on them.
Meaning: u need to get out of the car & climb up to opener & push
the button on opener & run back to car. Pair hand held romote with
button on mirror & it should work. May have to do it few times to get it?

Rearview Mirror with Compass and Universal Transceiver
This rearview mirror combines the comfort of an automatic anti-glare function, the convenience of an electronic compass with a digital display and the power of an integrated universal remote control. (not actual picture)

The remote's intelligent learning feature allows it replace up to three original remot control devices. (garage door opener, lights, security system, etc.) Option 430 or 431 required for E90.

What are these options?
