BMW assist
Just got a used 2008 bmw 328i. I know that you get the assist free of charge for the first 4 years but does this transfer when you buy a used bmw? I tried the sos button and an assist rep came on I told him that i just purchased the vehicle and was testing it out. If the SOS button connects me to assist does that mean i have the feature untill the 4 years are over?

Yes, you have the assist feature. Your dealer should have explained it to you and setup your account with BMW. Hit the button again, and have the rep you reach setup the account with your details.

if the car has less than 12 months left on the warranty BMWNA will require a credit card number to setup the service. No idea why as they do not charge to it. I just had mine setup by the dealer 2 weeks ago on a 2008 E90 with 10 months left on the warranty.

My dealer tried, but apparently my TCU needs to be reprogrammed as the button does nothing, and update services via the idrive menu is grayed out

- Fill out assist signup form at BMW dealer, have a sales associate type it into their computer. - Wait 24 hours - Press SOS button, and finalize setup over the air (password preferences, etc.) |
