Bad drivers in fast cars
I'm still angry from an incident yesterday (Sun, 3/6, around noon) and am hoping the younger members listen. On public roads in traffic, SLOW DOWN, and don't pretend your in a video game. I was on I-95 north in the Danvers, MA area driving around 70 mph in the 2nd lane from the left, cruising with the flow. I look in my mirror and see a bunch of xenon lights approaching rapidly. A peloton of sports cars converges and while most were not weaving, some were playing pole position. At least 3 GT-Rs, 2 911's, an M5, a couple of WRX's, etc. Obviously, some group of enthusiasts headed to NH/ME for a day of driving fun. The worst offender was an a$$hole in an e46 M3 who was doing over 120mph in the right hand lane. Had I not looked in my mirror before changing lanes to exit the highway, I would have an M3 embedded in my trunk.
Driving this fast on public roads in traffic is a shi++y thing to do. Had I not had my 3 yrd old son in back, I would have responded differently and would have no problem reporting to the State police that line this stretch of road. I hope they were caught. Most of us here enjoy driving faster than the speed limit and do so in controlled settings. Forcing the public to hope you dont mess up and slaughter someone is NOT ok.

It's not so much that it was on a public road, but on a public road where other people happened to be, and weren't expecting that kind of speed. I don't mind fast driving until it puts others at risk, and this sounds like it fits the bill. To approach speeds of 120 mph +, you need a road like this, with no intersections, fences on both sides, and no cars in EITHER DIRECTION.

At the time, my new iphone (Verizon) was not paired to the car and was in the trunk in a coat pocket. By the time I got off the highway, I just wanted to get my son home for lunch before a meltdown. I regret not calling it in, but life with kids changes everything, including my ability to be organized.
Anyone know if the state police maintain a public log of their responses? Perhaps they were caught.

Sigh, in a few previous posts, I have kinda made a jerk of myself, cause all these 18 year olds are getting BMWs from mommy and daddy and I post a troll, and while that is really not a fair generalization, I must say, its stuff like this that makes me wonder.
The entitlement comment is so appropriate. Do you really even think they thought they were doing anything wrong, NO! They are entitled to speed, and entitled to kill people. God, it just honstly brings the worst out in myself, you start to lose general good will toward people like that. "HMMM, I hope you have a blow out at that speed and take three other speeders with you." Even though that attitude is just as wrong. Its really lose lose. There's no way they would ever listen or learn, and we stand to lose our driving privliges over people like that, while at the same time being victimized by them. |

I am 31, so I am not that young anymore; but why is it the 'young' drivers you say do this? I have seen plenty of old assholes, and soccer moms driving like complete dicks...
Did you card every driver that past you to check their age? All ages drive stupid; just saying....

If others will just stay in their lanes or not have a picnic in the passing lane, we could all go 120+ in peace. Also, if cops would just leave me alone when I speed, I'd be able to concentrate more on what's in front of me, instead of cops coming on the onramp and behind me, thus making the roads safer for everybody. Sound logic no?
