tire/wheel insurance for 17" tires for 528i

I am tired of looking around for Tire/wheel insurance fore 17" tires on 528i. My dealer wants to sell me a third party carrier and I want to buy BMW's insurance. Other dealers quote ridiculous prices- $1400 & above

Can you people share your experience?

1) Are 17" prone for frequent damage even in NY/NJ area?

2) Can you tell me your experience of getting service if you had BMW or Fidelity or First automotive or National adjustment bureau or any other brand?

The car is a lease for 3 years and its on order.

Not worth it.....the 17" on 528i are not low profile tires. You have more rubber and are less likely to crack a rim. Harder to curb rash too because there's less rim and more tire. For $1400 though, you buy a whole new set of rims.

Can anyone share their experience with First automotive? They quoted $630 for 3 years tires/wheel. They require pre-authorization for repairs. I think I might need it for tires more than rims due to pot holes in NYC!

I bit on this for $1289 (5-year), but have 30 days to cancel and plan to do so. After I have seen what nice wheels run, I can certainly buy replacements for less. I also plan to go to the non RFT, so that will eliminate some extra expense as well.
