Extraction pumps....??

Who here' uses a pump to change their oil? Tired of messing with the silly drain plug and I don't have my own lift so I'm thinking buying one just makes more sence...I realize you probably can't extract as much oil as you can by draining...so I'm still up in the air about it...need to change oil asap...any input?

I'm hoping you have a 325/328/330 because 335's have no dipstick to thread the tube down. I have one and use it in my E46 and jet skis all the time. I can come pretty damn close to getting all the oil out using it. Mine is a simple 8 quart vacuum fed one you have to pump, have used a suction pump based one at the Kawasaki factory and I get the same results either way. Bought it on Amazon about 5 years ago for something like $35.

No dipstick either...I was hoping someone would chime in and say you can pump it from another location, like thru the filter area or something...

Probably not because you can't snake it to the sump. I use on on my e320 and the are nice. Also use it to pull diff fluid off my jeep. Picked up at northern tool. Amazon also sells it. It's a Mityvac 7400 about 70$.

gotta have a dipstick tube to reach way down into the pan...gotta go back
to the old school way. Had one I bought from Northern tool (can't remember the name but it was blue and pretty cheap) and it did OK on my E46. I had trouble getting the vacuum started but after it started I would go to the house and make a sandwich, read the bentley, etc.

Hellbent on topside oil extraction

Can anyone tell me if the dipstick tube in older beemers using the same block as the E90 was inserted into the the oil pan or the engine block ? If the latter, would it be fair to assume that the casting has not changed since they removed the dipstick ? I'm thinking if the hole where the dipstick once resided is still present but just plugged or capped, that it can be removed and a dipstick tube from an older beemer can be pressed in. Question is.... where to look for it ?
I don't care about the calibration of the dipstick, I just want to be able to do an oil change from the top side.

It's BS that there is no dipstick or no plugged dipstick hole that an extraction pump can be used...I'm not too lazy,..the guy that did it last must have put the drain plug on with am air rachet and a standard sized socket to say the least....just ordered a new drain plug and I guess I'll have to try out the craftsman bolt extractor socket kit...ughh always something...
