Hello all,

I'm looking for a little advice for my 535xi with standard 18x9-245/45 wheels. I have a set of BMW OEM star spoke 124 wheels and tires that I would like to put on my F10 535xi. The 124 style wheel sizes are front 18x8 - offset 43 and rear 18x9 - offset 55. Tire sizes are 245/40 - front and 275/30 rear.

After using a wheel offset calculator, the front wheels should have no problem fitting. However, the rear wheels will be 17mm closer to the struts. Does anyone know how much rear strut clearance there is on a F10 535xi? And also can the staggered wheel set-up cause any problems?

I have read the threads in this sections and couldn't find a definitive answer. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I'm pretty sure the OEM 124 are 18x8 and 18x9, but the offset are correct. I don't know if they will hit the strut side or not.
But I'd put spacers on anyway because of that high offset. 10mm front and at least 12mm in the rear.
And the tire sizes are to small for the F10 too.

Thanks for the reply! You are correct, the OEM 124's are 18x8 and 18x9. As far as the tires being too small, can the car still be driven on them? I'm just trying to wear out a set of summer tires from the 2008 535xi (with sport package - hence the 124's) that I traded in for the F10. After the summer tires are worn out, I plan on using the 124's for a winter set-up.

these 4 pieces of rubber are all that are keeping the car on the road. from what I understand the 2008 5series are E60s models vis-a-vis the F10s. The tyres and rims for the E60 should not be used on the F10 and vice versa. Don't put your life at risk just for the sake of "wearing down the set of summer tyes"...its not worth it. Just my opinion. Drive safe.

So if my calculations are correct, the 245/40 and 275/35 will effectively lower the car by 24.5mm in the front and 28mm in the rear (about an inch overall)

F10 OEM tires are 245/45 = sidewall height of 110.25mm

E60 OEM tires are 245/40 = sidewall height of 98.0mm in the front

E60 OEM tires are 275/35 = sidewall height of 96.25mm in the rear

-So that would mean an overall change in the front wheel/tire diameter of (110.25mm - 98mm = 12.25mm x2 = 24.5 or 0.96 in)

-and an overall change in the rear wheel/tire diameter of
(110.25mm - 96.25mm = 14mm x2 = 28mm or 1.10in)


It looks like there may be an issue with bottoming out the car. Has anyone lowered an F10 yet?

Ok, for anyone who is interested, I tried the E60 BMW OEM Star Spoke 124 wheels on my F10 today. Here are the results:

-My F10 has 18x8- offset 30 - on all four corners

-The tire wheel combo I tried was from 2008 E60 w/sport package - Front=18x8 offset 43, 245/40 R18 tires and Rear=18x9 offset 55, 275/35 R18 tires

-Neither the front nor the rear E60 rims fit on the F10 with a simple swap of the wheels.

-The front rim/tire was hitting the strut and the brake caliper. At least a 15mm spacer would be needed to make them fit. The tire looks small but would work without rubbing anywhere.

-The rear rim/tire did not hit the strut. It was just touching the brake caliper. The wheel would spin freely however the brake caliper was removing the very thin layer of dirt that was on the rim. A 5mm spacer would be sufficient to clear the brake caliper. As with the front tire, the rear tire did not appear that it would rub anywhere.

-Remmib was correct in his earlier post that spacers would be needed.

-I need to figure out which spacer sizing combo that will make the front and rear wheels look the best.

Another update:


I attempted to put the 124's on the F10 using wheel pins and washers to simulate spacer size. It does not appear that the 124's will fit on the F10 without modification of the brake caliper.
