why are you brake torquing the car.. for the purpose of burn outs?

if so it would be better to find a "line-lock" solution for your car to apply the front brakes only--

ALL the parts are under stress when you apply power thru the engine to the transmission, this includes driveline components like the flex coupling (guibo)/ center supports and both shafts. if the car is able to overcome the rear brake force applied then your pad life may be shortened and rotor surface can become glazed from excess heat build up and very little cooling air for that short period of time.

brake torquing for the purpose of building boost from a dig more likely. And OP, you are loading the torque converter for x amount of seconds, so yes you are stressing the transmission.

Yes, it's "bad" in a way, just depends how often you try to flash the converter and how you go about it. It can cause the torque converter to balloon or bend the internal fins, although I've never heard of that happening to our cars. It's probably not any harder on the pump than everyday driving exhibits but the practice can contribute to higher trans temperatures.

Our cars build boost so easily and reach torque peak so early that I'm not sure the practice is even helpful.

with full traction from a dig, its VERY helpful Just one reason why ATs can outlaunch MTs from the mere fact you can build boost off the line.

Do it at a moderate level and it wont really hurt the car. But if you do it all the time and are revving into very high RMP's of course it wont be good for the car.
