Snow in atl

Wellllll I am the moron who doubted that it would snow a ton.

I left dinner in buckhead with tiny flurries falling down. By the time I hit 400 south there was 1/2" on the road. By the time I hit 85 there was 1". By the time I hit the connector 3". Was sideways stck for a while. Was majorly stuck on a hill for 45 min. Had two guys in town from Minnesota staying in a hotel near the highway push me up the hill. Got off the highway. Almost got tboned by a cab. Some idiot stopped at a red-light half way up the hill on ivan Allen. Had to get pushed again. Guy wanted push me with his car. Wasnt gonna happen. Made it home finally. Total time. 2 hours. Total distance 6 miles.

Moral of the story? I hate runflats more than ever. WORST TRES EVER.

I've got 16" all-season RFTs and I briefly drove around in some fresh powder and everything felt fine, I didn't go up any huge hills though. Glad you and your car made it safely, the South East is going to be in chaos for a few days

Glad you made it home safely. I think I would have chewed every nail off during that ordeal!

I asked one of my friends from Boston if she thought it was going to snow, she said, "dude, it's going to snow, I can smell it." Once she said that, homeward bound I was and only opened the door to let the dogs out.

Your problem isnt the run flats... its the fact that you have WIDE SUMMER tires on and no limited slip differential.

335i sucks ass in snow. I'm not going anywhere on my PS2's... wouldnt make it down my neighborhood street.

Well at least none of you were the guy that set fire to his '99 5er on the morning news. As I was walking out of my dorm this morning I saw on the news about how this m0ron couldn't make it up a small (and I mean tiny) incline so he just went WOT until the tires caught fire and incinerated his whole car, all caught on TV

wow.

there were a TON of people going WOT on 85 last night, for hundreds of yards at a time. Sounded like jets were flying over. I was outside of my car hoping to stop anyone from sliding into me. Thankfully no one came close.

I think what happened to that 5er is that he burnt up the transmission and the DSC was modulating the brakes so it just got so hot that eventually it burst into flames.

^That works too. Didn't think of that. From what I saw/heard from that report he did do a lot of spinning while he was trying to make it up the hill, and that's just what the station thought had happened.

I don't know about all BMWs but mine (325i) is rear-wheel drive. Rear wheel drive is the worst you can have for snow. You have no ability to turn the tires (rear tires) in order to obtain any type of grip possible if you're stuck. Front wheel drive at least gives you the capability to dry-turn your tires to try to get grip anywhere on the road. I've been inside all day and I probably will be tomorrow too.

Been driving around just fine yesterday and today.

Granted it was in the FWD Odyssey. The M3 has and will stay in the garage until the schools open and I have to venture out in the BMW.

All jokes aside, the Odyssey is fantastic for this even if only FWD. I had five young girls in back to take over to the golf course to sled and even though the stability control flashed like crazy, it kept moving along.

my E90 wouldn't even make it up the hill in my neighborhood. Luckily, our other car is a Volvo S60R AWD. I drove my wife to work in it today... it performed flawlessly. I passed a dozen cars stranded going up a hill.
