Pedestrian Protection System Error..

Anyone else had this error? seems to only happen on really cold mornings. My dealer has already done a software update, but I still have the problem, now they want it for 2 days.

F10 has an automatic pedestrian protection system - when a collision with a pedestrian is detected, the bonnet is lifted to cushion the impact.

Ok! So it is computer-controlled too? I just thought it was a purly mechanic pop-up thing

I know that Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection relies on thermal images. When it is extremely humid here in South Florida if I use the system, I will get a yellow indicator (icon with a yellow line) advising that the system may not be able to detect people, animals etc... When the outside ambient temps cool the system has no issues.

Nearly sorted....the software update didn't work, now they're replacing the sensors so that'll be another day at the dealers.

Happy New Year.

In the german forum motor-talk.de, there was one F10 Driver reporting the same error. They replaced the sensors first but that didn't help. Finally, the whole explosive unit was replaced which solved the problem.

I have an F10 registered eight weeks ago and I got this error at the end of the first week and it has been there ever since.

It has been back to the dealer four times so far and today they changed the sensor with no success. We are waiting for BMW to give fresh instructions.

They had mine in for a day for this problem, although I'd not seen the error.
