Remus Sport vs. Race
I'm looking to compare the two exhaust systems. Horsepower and sound wise. Does anyone have any sound clips of the sport exhaust? I heard the ones on youtube and they don't do any justice.

nice topic i found some
RACE only found with n55 motor and SPORT also could be sport as race version was release this year i think all depends also on a speakers of your pc, i use headphones i think that remus sound is one of the best about the gains if u put lets say race version that has less restrictions and leave all piping stock (dps, secondary cats ) u can get maybe 10 hp if u will put catless dps + delete secondary cats in total u can get 20hp maybe p.s this is very good compare only sad its not 335i

The Remus race is new for the 335. I know, I was the first to have it, and the first to install on my n55. Overall, it's new for the '335' line this year -specifically the Remus Race is new for the 335 . There are only two on the forum that have it; I did a lot of research and comparisons, and I took a leap of faith... I couldn't be happier with the race setup. I love, love, love it. The grunt of the n55 with this remus race exhaust note is pure sex. There is another guy on the forum that got it too... maybe he'll chime in. The problem is... you don't have a lot of folks to talk to base any comparisons on... you just have to make a leap. That yt vid above is mine () I have the black 335 m-sport. The 2nd video does not fully capture the sound IMO due to the parking garage reverberation. Good luck, the n55 sounds phenomenal as it sits stock... you really can't go wrong with the remus race. The 'sport' is a little too timid for me.

Thanks... the gurgle happens at low speed 1st/2nd gear. When I pick up my kid at school the folks lined up just stare. It sounds like a beast. As it sits right now, I have a aFe high flow air filter and the remus race. That's it. I am planning on installing the iCarbon dp OR the ar dp... haven't decided yet. I have thought about changing the mid-pipe, but the design underneath is so well thought out and STRONG that I may just leave it with a dp and the remus. The shop went through 2 sawz-all blades to cut through to oem pipe. They were as impressed as I was at the strength of the n55 exhaust pipe. Hope that helps. Oh... and I'll be getting a PROcede too in January to cure my turbo lag issues, of which the n55 has big time.

the "pipe over pipe" is no different than double walled tips. These tips are hot (duh) but are cooler than the actual exhaust. Plus, the Race setup is the only setup with CF inlay. -nice touch.

This is my personal opinion; if you want an agressive sound go with the race version. If you prefer the looks go with the sport version. I have the sport version, and love the looks and sound of it. The race version is louder than sport, but I'm totally not feeling the looks of it.

I have an '11 that came with the m-tech diffuser. I went ahead and replaced the oem diffuser with a cf duke dynamics quad and it was TIGHT, but doable with the race setup.

I've got the Sport exhaust and love it, but I think you're much better off going with the Race version if you want more sound that will turn heads. Also, there are no aftermarket quad diffusers big enough to fit the Sport tips. You have to either trim your stock bumper or diffuser on mtec using a provided paper template.
It will not fit the Duke quad diffuser or any other I've found on the market. They've got 90mm tips. I bought a fiberglass diffuser off a member here and spent 4hrs with a dremel and fiberglass repair kit to strengthen areas near where I trimmed. I definitely would not try this on a stock bumper, it's much easier and accurate with the diffuser up on a workbench. The sound vs. stock is immediately noticeable and there was a big difference I could hear at the track. I'm not sure on performance gains. I like the looks of Sport relative to Race, but they both look great. Sport is more of what I perceive as an OEM look and sound, overall. |

tahoerdr is correct. The 'Sport' version quads will NOT fit the Duke Dynamics diffuser. I have the 'Race' setup and the diameter is slightly smaller and FITS the Duke diffuser as shown in the pic below. And... yea, it's tight but no rubbing or vibration.

I'd personally go with the Remus US Sound Race exhaust as it does provide a very deep and throaty exhaust note. The Remus US Sound Race Exhaust is only available only within the US. However, you can purchase them from an authorized Remus dealer such as ourselves and we can ship them over to you. Here are a few more exhaust clips of the Remus US Sound Race Exhaust for you guys to check out that our customers adrock, jahmed78, and madmanhiker have sent back!

I listened to that clip on youtube of the older BMW w/Remus Sport exhaust. It sounds pretty weak in that clip, though it's impossible to really tell. My setup sounds deeper and louder, especially at cold start-up. I keep it in a 200'x60'x10' open-ended parking garage. While stock, the car was unobtrusive. Now, the deep note reverberates through the garage. Same situation while parked at the office. Everyone knew I changed the exhaust when I started it up next to the concrete cinder block building. I'd say it's ~30% louder than stock. I'll try to post a clip on youtube soon.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with Race simply because of the custom cutting of the bumper is required. FYI- somebody was selling a new Sport set for ~$1,000 last week. |
