When it comes time to replace the battery in the 335, is the Proceed Battery Adaption Reset feature the same thing as registering the new battery? If not, what is the differrence?

what do u mean procede battery adaptation? if u change old battery and install new one? if u talking about adaptations reset u no need to do that cos u are MT (if u talking about procede command center) if i am wrong somebody please correct me

**335i** The procedetuning chip comes with a feature called "battery adapation"

The adaptations are different from registering. You need a bmw scan tool to register a new battery when replacing. Im not to familiar with the procede stuff, but im assuming that adaptation reset is just to reset the learned adaptations of the vehicle. That has nothing to do with registering a battery.

If it is just the "adaptation" of the battery for the vehicle to get used to, kind of odd? Not sure when that'd be useful. hopefully procede answer this one.

Sorry I was posting from my phone so I couldnt get into detail about it. Resetting adaptations, is resetting the learned values from the vehicle over time. Now if you replaced a major part, or if you went back to stock, you may want to reset the engine adaptations so it can relearn. For instance if you put DCIs or a tune on your car, it may take a few driving cycles for the DME to fully adapt to the new mods and compensate for it. Now if you removed that stuff, you may want to reset it back to stock adaptations instead of waiting for it to relearn.

A battery register is completely different. When replacing the battery in a BMW with an IBS cable (which yours has) You need to register the new battery, to tell the DME that it now has a fresh battery with full capacity. Basically what happens is. The IBS cable monitors the battery, voltage, capacity, temp etc. Over time the battery will discharge ( it may still output correct voltage) but its capacity drains. When this happens the IBS cable tells the DME to tell the Alternator to slowly bump itself up do the battery is getting weaker, so it will charge it more so it can keep up. Now when you replace the battery, the new battery obviously has a full capacity. The IBS cable will not know right away that you have a new battery in it. So it can potentially OVERCHARGE the new battery for a brief period of time until it relearns which can potentially shorten the life of the new batt. The reason for registering is basically to tell the system it has a new battery, with full capacity and it doesnt need to be charged at a higher rate. I dont believe the Procede can do this.
