The HPFP costs only $220 now ? I'll take two :)

Hi,

I got a 2AAF code which immediately prompted my to look how much does a HPFP cost these days (from my research this code means nothing though). Last time I looked I remember a price of around $500, now I see it only costs $220...I'm relieved to see that the price is quite affordable now.

Make them $100 a pop and I'll never visit the dealer for an HPFP again.

Gross exaggeration. I beat the shit out of my 07 and replaced 2 HPFP's under warranty in about 60k miles.

I only had 1 HPFP replaced across 2 N54s. *knock on wood*

Judging from failure patterns, those who have frequent failures will continue to have frequent failures. Others with one or less replacements early into the car's lifecycle don't have the issue again.

Am I really the only one with 40+k miles that's still on an original fuel pump?

I feel so lucky

I hope you are right! I had some long cranks the first few months with the car, and they went away and never returned. One the original pump now for 3.75 years.

There is a core charge too, so you technically can only get 1 at $220.

WTF came out of the HPFP recall? BMW is just going to replace your fuel pump with a known bad design? Are they going to issue a recall of the recall at some point in the future?

FYI

The 2AAF in and of itself is not a HPFP code. Here's some good info on 2AAF. But basically if it does not cause drivability issues or is not thrown with other codes, then BMWNA's stance is that it is left alone and chalks it up to just diagnostic sensitivity.

I've replaced one and I have 49,000 miles. There is a issue but its not like everyone is replacing a pump every 10k miles, many people have had no issue at all.

i hope nobody is forking over extra bucks for an OTC pump... the frikkin parts warranty is 2yrs and unlimited miles.. so if you have one fail on you before the 2yr warranty is up, then its up to the dealer to determine if it failed due to parts and/or workmanship. -- and since the part is what you were sold, the whole stink about mods are irrelevant -- warranty is part specific.
