Bt tool and other obd2 scanners

Can other scanners find the same codes the Bt tool does? An ex BMW tech told me they could so just wondering if they could

No, the OBDII scanners only read OBDII codes. The BT reads all codes which in the DME. OBDII only covers emissions related. There are many many more potential codes.

Not just obd2 scanners. Just the ones that goes thru the obd2 port. Are there other scanners beside the can tool or Bt tool?

Auto Enginuity is another laptop based product similar to BT.

There are a couple of other hardware only but they sell for much more.

The reason I ask is when I installed my jb3 the cel went off because I plugged it in wrong. I talked to my tech guy and he said he could erase the cel and the codes thrown. I was just wondering if the dealership could detect anything when I bring it in for oil and service. There shouldn't be tuner codes because I never went over map 3 on the jb3

Potentially. There is always a possibility for a tuner code which the OBDII scanners would not touch.
