Heated Rear Window Problem

Now that the cold weather is upon us here in the UK, it`s time to start using the heated rear window. However, as you can see from the picture, there is clearly a problem with the elements in my rear window.

My local dealer has offered to replace the window, but suggest you also check out yours, apparantly this problem is not isloated.

Thanks for the pics.

My E60 was the same from when I bought it (18 months old), had it 'seen to' once under warranty but it was still the same. I thought it was just poor design

If after a while the window is clear enough so you can drive safely I recommend you do not let them replace your window. If there is a way to screw it up the stealership will find it and you'll be sorry you let them replace it.

I totally agree. Before I had my F10, I had a 6 month old 330D convertible. I owned it for 65 days, of which over 30 of them was spent at the dealer trying to fix a water leak in the roof.....which only got worse every time I got it back! To be fair to BMW, I did manage to obtain a full refund. The thought of going through the whole episode again is something I would rather avoid.

Hi,

My top 3 elements don't work and I have been told it's because they are the remote key antenna - not screen heating. Is that correct?

I think it is correct. If you look at the pictures I posted, the top 3-4 lines are also not working.

I have checked them and I can not find the same problem as shown on the lower section. I guess a quick call to another dealer to confirm what the first said could be an option?

I was supprised by this as well. I have the exact issue on my F10. I first thought that the rearwindow heating was broken. But that this is the antenna for the remote key, sounds very plausible for me.
It did not bother me a lot. At first it appeared that the heating is broken and that the factory did not check it thorougly.
