JB4 Alpha + DCT=
Smooth
Not pushing as much boost as with map5 JB3 but it's smoother :P Small ticker in 3rd at low RPMs and low speeds when in D and normal though, but no one else who drove the car could tell (I'm just anal with small stuff) Love changing maps on the fly, having a boost gauge, and the shift light is cool (though in a DCT it's not really needed lol) Just thought I'd share. I like having the only DCT JB4 hehe. Though the more people who get it the more logs Terry can get..

Nooooob
I'm a noob here, but i'm planning on getting a 2009 convertible 335 in jan/feb of 2011.
I'm hoping that by then, the jb4 is out, tested and ready for some serious and safe fun |

Why wouldn't the shift light Be needed with a DCT tranny? You should still be short shifting

the drivability on the jb4 is way diff than JB3. its sooo smooth and easy to modulate the throttle. i agree the boost is still conservative but once it gets right tuning the game will be excited

I have it set to where the S shifts on WOT. But I like using M mode, it's more involving and fun. but it doesn't matter much since if the RPMs get too high it shifts like any other non-manual (times like this I hate not having a manual anymore... but my commutes to LA remind me of why I got rid of manuals; along with the super quick DCT shifting hehe) yeah

My mother drives a JB3 and soon to be JB4 powered 135i.... my old 135i...
And when taking the tune out for service, she left me a voice mail saying, and I quote: "Hi, it's your mother. I didn't move so fast when I stepped on it on the highway. When are you putting that chip back in my car... Goodbye...." Nuff said. |

LoL. My wife said just about the same thing when I took out the JB3 for service. "You're car is running slow. You should put those computer wires back in the engine again."
