Exclamation Just got my 330i and 530i. Turbo Kit Coming Soon

I mentioned earlier on this forum that we would be building turbo/intercooler kits for the 330i and 530i. In order to get the options I wanted I had to special order the cars. But... I finally now have both cars.

We'll begin our turbo kit development in about two weeks once we put some miles on the cars.

I got one of these with a stick and one with an auto, and after driving both for a couple days, I definitely like them. The 330i with a stick seems to have a bit of oversteer whereas the 530i corners more comfortably. Neither car has any body roll with the suspension upgrade. I definitely like the auto in the 530i and actually prefer it over the stick. I live on a slope behind a gate and love the cool brake feature that engages when you go to shift into first on an uphill. Both cars could use more power in my opinion. I still roll away from a light faster than most but would prefer to have more power down lower in the rpms rather than having to get high in the rpms to reach the sweet spot in the power band.

Here are a couple pics.

I'll post our progress on this forum as time goes by.

Take care,
Chris.

Damn.. that's a lot of driving. What did you do, go coast to coast?

I put 1,000 on the 530i, and the 330i has about 20 on it. I gave the 330i to my girl-friend and she's going to break it in. We're going to dyno and drag them at the track once both are over 1,000 miles. Then we'll have some good #'s for comparison once our kits are done.

Mr.Abulia... My job is getting better and better. I wasn't always able to afford awesome machines like this.

ZenDriver... Yes, we have a shop in Portland, OR. Are you near here?

lemmegetatthat... I do have a Supra, but the one on Ebay is Marko's. Mine's pretty fast but his is faster. My best is a 9.78. His is an 8.45.

Every car is slightly different and has slightly different electronics. It will probably require a very small modification to the 330i kit. Once we start rolling with the 330 and 530 we'll probably do the 325.

We already have in production turbo/intercooler kits for other cars. The BMW E90 kits for both the 330 and 530 are the next ones in line. We will be transforming both of mine over the next few months. From inception to general release takes quite a bit of time, however. I'm hoping to be able to have the kits available for sale around the Feb/March timeframe.

Take care,
Chris.

Keep us informed how the Valvetronic copes, studies here have apparently shown thst the Valvetronic system cannot really cope with high pressure turbo system ( wonder what the 335i has, or maybe there is no valvetronic with direct injection) (also Alpina seems to know how to make it work with superchargers)

Chris,

You wouldn't happen to be able to make a turbo for a Toyoto Celica engine that's produced for a lightweight, bumble bee looking car made in England, would you?

anon@elysion.com if you would, I would like to discuss these sorts of things.

Great to see someone willing to at least undertake the R&D for turbo kits. Any idea what sort of pricing is anticipated? Thanks.

We had a great time at Bimmerfest. It was nice meeting those of you that made it. We had both the E90 and the M3 on display with our turbo kits.

The M3 is pretty solid and will be the first kit to be released. We've had some trouble tuning the E90 with piggybacks but now have two solutions. We do have a solution to make the piggyback approach work that will trick out a few more sensors. However, we have put that project on hold as we are now flying a tuner out to Europe to test some software that will allow us to re-tune the factory ECU in that car. If this software works, it will be the best way for us to get the optimum tune in the E90.

E90Fleet... I haven't had any trouble with boosting as far as the valvetronic system goes. I've had troubles in other areas which I'm fairly confident I have a solution for.

ZenDriver... It takes a lot of orders to make up for the production costs associated with a complete product lifecycle development of one of these turbo kits. Unless there's a large demand, we won't be able to do something for that car.

YYDoodle... The pricing will be $9500 w/cat, $9150 w/o cat.

Ed_330i... I've often thought about doing the 750i. There really isn't any room in that car for turbos, but if we did twin turbo that vehicle, it would lay the law down. I was thinking at some point of doing one of those for my personal car since I do like the 750.

romeo26... I don't really want to speculate what the power output will be. However, it will be a significant power increase.

edy74... We may have a solution for you in about a year. It's a bit down the road.

Take care,
Chris.
