Rear Strut Mounts

Anyone taken apart the rear interior of an M COUPE to change the strut mounts? I guess it would be sacreligious to cut an access window in the carpet rather than spend 3 hours taking it all apart wouldn't it

Psssht. Cut the window, man! There's nothing holy about an M-Coupe's carpeting. Yanking the trunk's interior is a royal pain mostly because it is nearly impossible to get it all back together exactly how it was. So many clips. So many tabs.

I installed the RE mounts.
It wasn't really that big of a deal.
I only took off some of the rear trim, then just pulled the rest back far enough to slide my hand in.
I don't think it took more than an hour.

Others have cut access windows so they could adjust their rear struts setting when they went aftermarket.

Access holes are the way to go! I didn't even think twice about punching holes in my carpeting:

I found some plastic plugs from Lowe's / Home Depot that fit the hole I drilled through. You can't tell from the pics (due to the flash), but it looks like OEM.

This is a pic of the passenger side looking down the hole:

^ I thought you were asking about strut mounts, not shock adjustment?

Well I was asking about the "shock mounts" and although I will need a bigger access, I may just slit the carpet and tape it back together from underneath with carpet tape.
