Thats because unlike the 5-series, the M-sport package here (for the 3'er) is a dealer-installed option, not factory-installed and only includes the bodykit. I was quoted by BMW Autohaus that the kit is $1750 + another $1400 or so between paint and install by a BMW certified bodyshop. It's a single part number which includes the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, lip spoiler and foglights.

Oops, I should have been clearer, when I said "It's a single part number which includes the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, lip spoiler and foglights." I meant the spoiler as the little one that sits on the trunklid, I guess thats more like a lid lip spoiler then.

If you're asking about the CF splitters that attach onto the left and right of the front bumper then sorry I really don't know, didn't ask at the time.

Interestingly enough I saw the M sport package on a e90 328xi of all places sitting in the dealership while I waited for my car to be serviced.

Looks good but at approx $3,000 for only the cosmetics a little expensive.

In Europe choosing Msport also gives you (in addition to the look) the Sports Package (seats, suspension, steering wheel, mags) as well as perforated leather for steering wheel, gear knob (at least for manuals) and brake handle.

So in this sense, no it is not possible to get the Msports package here as an option group, like for example is the case with S-line for Audi.

I come from owning Mercedes, where the front bumper, foglights, and maybe 1 side skirt alone, unpainted and in a box already cost $3000 so this is pretty good

I can't understand why BMW offers the 5-series here with the factory installed M-sport, but not the 3.

Well they offer the M package in europe and the m3 is not released there either.

IN NA BMW seems to offer M packages when the model in question is towards the end of its life cycle. The 5 Series only recently has the M package option, post mid-life refresh, as it enters its last third of its life as the current generation.

I expect the 3 Series to be subject to the same rules. I don't know why they do this for North America only though
