This is what I will put in my future E90 M3. What do you guys think?

After the storm calms down when the M3 debuts for a yr or earlier, this is what I want in my M3. Are the options good enough for an M3. I don't want my car really "fully" loaded.

2008-09 M3 Sedan

Premium Package
SMG (Rumors say it's standard, which I hope it is)
Comfort Access
M Seats with Width adjustment
Navigation

Simple, that's how I like to keep my stuff. This is all i need in a powerful family (4-door) car. What do you guys think? or

John, I hope the SMG is standard. Lol. If it isn't, it drives the price higher. Haha.

hehe yea.

i hope smg is standard too
cause if you do opt for clutch, it won't cost you more.

i know the m5 was smg only, but for 2007 i think it can be clutch or smg.
so who knows if bmw will make it standard or not, they dont wanna piss off their customers.

Hi,

SMG IV will be standard and on the Sport 6 (S6) mode (the sportiest mode), it will change gears up without using the clutch, just by matching the revs, like F1 cars do - it'll go up through the gears one by one between 8000 and 9000 rpm. I don't think we'll see a manual transmission for the new M3, at least not for a year or two. Some BMW people have told me that BMW is considering offering a manual box for the US market only on the M5/M6 since people are too stuck up on the manual, but I realistically don't see this happening either, the SMG is just too good and the torque is just too much to drive any of these cars with a manual tranny in a reasonable way, unless you wish to replace your clutch every 5000 miles or so, like on the E39 M5. And besides, people should start understanding that SMG really is a manual, it's just a computer controlled one where you don't touch the clutch, the system does it for you. That being said, I still enjoyed manual more on the E46 M3 and Z4 M Coupé (which won't even get the SMG at all), the S54B32 straight six is better suited for a manual, and doesn't have the insane torque of M5/M6 or the new M3.

Best regards,

Jussi

SMG IV standard! Awesome!

I can imagine why too: with that much hp and tq, the money $hift will be very painful for both the customer and BMW AG if the manual tranny is mis-shifted...

Hi,

It's more like, you'll have a 9000 rpm 4L V8 monster under the bonnet. That's going to need a serious transmission to tame and to put the power on the road. I was also told it'll have a new, much improved version of the M Variable Slip Differential.

There won't be any "ZCP" versions on the US market as far as I know. That was E46.

Best regards,

Jussi
