Not that I know of, seems fairly new to their website which they just updated. They are local though . I shot them an email asking for more info and a dyno if possible

Sounds Good!

Last month i emailed Active autowerke to see if they had any upgrades for the 128i and they said they do have an ECU upgrade but it was new so they didnt have it on their website yet. However, i asked for the power gains, and they told me between 8 -12 hp. I guess it's now 15 hp or their just rounding up like assholes

Need to see a dyno!

I would think not, because this is a full ECU tune. It does what the power box does with throttle, and more

More? What else does it do? The power numbers seem to be similar.

Guess I'll eat my words and answer my own stupid question:

Key Feautures:

-Improved Gas Mileage
-Sportier throttle response
- Available for 91-93 octane
-Smoother pulls through RPM band
-Off Road options for cars without cats
-Top speed limiter removal
-Increase RPM Limiter for Manual Cars
-15 HP gain & 12 ft lbs of torque.
-Expect Higher Gains with bolt on Modifications.

-Smoother pulls through RPM band
Smoother power delivery rather than having certain bands with peak power. You can expect a linear progression through the entire range.
-Off Road options for cars without cats
More aggressive maps that take advantage of the increased flow due to a catless setup. Since the car is catless, the software is sold as off road use only but it's only sold under that disclaimed
-Top speed limiter removal
The car has a governor to limit the top end, this removes that and allows you to reach the natural top end.
-Increase RPM Limiter for Manual Cars
Like the speed limiter, the car is a rev limiter that prevents over revving the engine. This software safely raises that limit.

Not sure I see much of a difference between this and the BMS Powerbox, other than the speed limiter removal, which really doesn't matter for everyday driving. Anyone care to elaborate?

The power box gives you only 1-3 hp gain but fixes all the throttle lag. This gives you at least 15 hp/torque stock, and even more if you have bolt ons, or that's how I read it

What I don't understand is why none of these supposed tunes can provide a dyno? The 328i must be one of BMW's top selling models in the US, easily outselling anything with an N54/55 motor. While I realize that the turbo engines are far easier to eke extra power out of, you would think that anyone that stumbled upon a reliable N52 tune would realize the potential gold mine they were sitting on and produce some damn dynos already.

If you couldn't tell, I'm skeptical.

seriously, with the amount of n52 motors out there in the 3 series any reliable tune with dynos would be a money making opportunity.

Dynos are easy to do but realize that dynos have a margin of error anywhere between 5-10HP depending on the type, brand and of course other ambient factors. Given that, it would be hard to measure these gains accurately on a dyno and it may vary from user to user and dyno to dyno.

However, we've carried the power box for almost a year now and had good...really good feedback on the system. BMS makes a stand up product and a simple search will pull up the reviews to prove that.

It seems that its not straightforward to compare it to the BMS powerbox if I understand correctly.

BMS Powerbox:
- Piggyback style tune.
- Can take it off and dealership wouldn't know you have it.
- Moderate gains.

Active Autowerke:
- Tune is in the ECU.
- Can not be taken off.
- Possibly greater gains due to complete tune?

As for me, honestly, I've never heard of BMS before. Active Autowerke on the other side have been around for a while, and I've read articles and opinions on many of their projects; including an article in a Roundel earlier this year of their supercharger on an M3.

I am excited about Active Autowerke's tune and its on my list to do if the reviews come back positive.

Me too, this is the only one so far I'd feel fairly comfortable about having put on my car. After seeing some dynos anyway.
