Throttle response 318i

I know my 318i isn't exactly the most powerful engine on the planet but I've noticed that it suffers from quite severe throttle lag when pulling away, especially in 2nd gear. My wife even noticed it. Feels like it has no power until about 3-3500 rpm. I was browsing around the web and did a bit of reading on the 'Sprint Booster Power Convertor for the E90' available on bmtown's web site. Looks like it plugs in behind the accelerator pedal.

Anyone had any experience with these or are they a waste of money?

Any other ideas how to improve throttle response on these cars?

I'm not looking to heavily mod the car in any way, just something to increase low down power a bit.

..or do I just need to reset the computer? (Am I right in saying the procedure is key in, press start button without holding the clutch in, hold acc pedal down for 30 secs, leg go and start car?)

Think you will be wasting your money trying to improve throttle response you just need to work the 2.0l lumps a little harder...

Well reset has helped a bit. Still a bit slow for my liking.

I think i agree with you, perhaps a waste of money. Perhaps i should just blow all my savings Maybe a nice roots style supercharger or NOS might give me the kick I'm after

...even an engine swap....

Trade it in for a 6 cylinder model petrol or diesel if you need the grunt.

Have had a 318i in the past and driving a 330i now is night and day every journey is a joy

6 Cylinder will be on the cards eventually, gets annoying when you floor it and the car behind is still on your tail!

not old 318i  [0.00]
318i is the best
I have 318i, and dont find it slow at all. Most my driving around town, so 127bhp does just enough.

But i would love to owe 325i or 330i

I've also got a new mustang, I probably notice it most if I have just driven that and then take the bmw out for a spin.

I'm not saying its slooooww, just could do with being a bit more responsive.

Perhaps not worth spending any significant £ on though, def going to take a look at a 325i or 330d next time around.
