The stock CD changer on the e90 can only be mounted in the trunk.

huh. i guess im wrong. i did test drive a 5 series. so maybe thats why i saw it in the glovebox. but i remember seeing it at the dealership i bought my car at. and i didnt step inside a 5 at that dealership. what about if you get the better sound system? does it come in the glovebox then? im like 80 percent sure i saw it in the glovebox. but like wayyyy in the back. so it didnt fill up the glovebox.

E90 CD allways in the trunk. Never in the glove box. There isn´t the space in or above the Glove box. You are mistaken about your observation. You´re thinking of the E60

Hello. I'm new to this forum. I recently bought a 2006 325i a few weeks ago. I'm planning on performing this cd changer installation myself. Does this installation instruction still apply to my car? If so can I perform the retrofit coding myself? Or does that have to be done by the dealer?

The coding is done via the dealers computer, so they have to do it

Does anyone have a pic of the CD changer after retro-fit install? Also, it looks like the same changer that's in my e36 M3. Hard to believe it would be, does anyone know?

Coding and Cost

I installed the unit - quite easy once all the interior panels are removed. However, the coding. I called my dealer and they quoted me £100 for the coding. One hour's work. The entire installation was to be an hour by this above bulletin! They wouldn't hear of it saying their tech said the computer programming is difficult and time consuming.

What a rip.

That's just under $200!!!

Really wish it could be done at home - going to phone around to some dealers.

Where can I order the parts from?

Do I have to go with the specific bmw cd changer or can I go with a higher volume changer (maybe 8 disc, 12 disc) or one that plays dvds.

Note: I would use my iPod, but once I learned how to label my files correctly, mp3 cd's are just pretty cool. And I dont have to worry about leaving my ipod in the car or taking it with me when i'm too paranoid to do otherwise

Nope, CD players and Sirius radios from earlier models won't work in the e90 series cars because BMW went to fiberoptic signal transmission between the boxes and the head units. Sounds BETTER but there are no adaptors yet.

OK I need help! I have the 2008 e92 BMW M3 Coupe with the $1,900 Enhanced Premium Audio which finally arrived this Saturday.

1. I made some MP3 disks in preparation for arrival of the car. They do not work in the CD player. I have tried different disks, I have tried different burners, I have placed them in folders, no folders, etc... Nothing works.

I then made a burned CD with wav files instead of MP3's, and the CD worked! So I went back in and made a few more, and WTF - those disks didnt work.

I finally on a whim put them in my DVD slot for my Nav system, and all of a sudden it works. I put in an older MP3 disk and I was able to play them, navigate through folders, everything with no problems.

WTF is with the CD Player? Why does the DVD player read burned discs but the CD player doesnt? Why do some discs work, and others dont?

2. I ordered a subwoofer system - 1 - 12" JL Audio W6v2 in the HO enclosure, JL 500/1v2 500 watt amp, and a capacitor.

Am I going to have major problems adding this sub to my stock head unit????????

Seriously, this crap with BMW and their factory systems is getting old. The 6 disc MP3 changer from my 2001 E46 M3 wouldnt work.

Please help!!!!! The sub goes in this Friday, and I need to know if this is going to be impossible to add.

My cd player on my 2008 328 plays mp3 and wma files - but skips like crazy. Can anyone suggest what is wrong - the dealers won't fix the problem - they say bmw do not support mp3 or wma - which is crap because the manual say it does. They say I should be happy the player even plays it...starting to really hate bmw. Wishing I had kept my old integra - can't enjoy the car much without the music.

Phone Prep not working now

Hi,

I have just carried out this install to my 2006 325i M Sport by following the tutorial. Firstly, thanks for the info. I will need to get my car's software updated now to allow the headunit to recognise the autochanger.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this, as I have lost the functionality of my factory bluetooth phone prep now. I think it may be because I've moved the optical leads?

Can anyone clarify this is normal, and I should regain this function once the software is updated?

Thanks
